Carol M. Lininger

Carol M. Lininger, 75, of Emporium, passed away peacefully at her residence on Tuesday morning, July 28, 2026.

Born on December 24, 1950, in Ridgway, PA, she was the daughter of the late Bernard "Barney" and Rita Copella Greenawalt. On July 22, 1972, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Kersey, she married the love of her life, Robert "Speedy" Lininger, who preceded her in death.

Carol was a graduate of St. Marys Area High School and was employed for several years at Keystone Carbon in St. Marys. She was a proud member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Unit #6221, in Emporium, and enjoyed spending time with her many friends at the Emporium Senior Center. Carol will be remembered for her warm smile, kind heart, and quick wit. She always had a joke or one-liner ready to bring a smile to someone’s face and loved sharing homemade cookies with family and friends. Above all, she treasured every moment spent with her family and friends, creating memories that will be cherished always.

She is survived by her three children, Loretta Lininger of Driftwood, Paul Lininger of Emporium, and Robert Lininger, Jr. (Vicky) of Camp Hill; five beloved grandchildren, Ian, Brooke, Sierra, Jasten, and Caroline; several nieces and nephews; three brothers, Bernard “Bernie” Greenawalt, Jr. of Kersey, Tony Greenawalt (Brenda) of Kersey, and Robert “Joe” Greenawalt (Zita) of St. Marys; and one sister, Bernadine “Dean” Spong of Kersey.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Carol was preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Eckert; and two brothers, Ronald and Edward Greenawalt.

In accordance with Carol’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A Memorial Service will be held at the Barnett Funeral Home, 207 E. Fourth Street, Emporium, on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., with Rev. Kenneth Bailey of Endless Mountains Methodist Church, Moore Hill Campus, officiating.

Burial will be in Newton Cemetery, Emporium.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Emporium Senior Center, 105 East Fourth Street, Emporium, PA 15834.
