Stephen Nadji
Stephen Nadji, 96, of Guy & Mary Felt Manor, Emporium, PA formerly of 232 E. Allegany Ave., died at Guy & Mary Felt Manor, Emporium, PA on Thursday afternoon (December 31, 2020) following a lengthy illness. He was born May 19, 1924 in Sykesville, PA a son of the late Ignatz and Katie Soich Nadji. On September 6, 1952 in St. Mark Catholic Church he married the late Mary Louise Fye.
Steve retired from Sylvania where he had worked for many years. He was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church, Miller-Raffaele Post 6221, VFW, and the Loyal Order Of Moose Lodge #368, Emporium.
Steve is survived by a daughter, Cynthia Lilley and a son Stephen P. Nadji, both of Emporium; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, Steve was preceded in death by
a daughter, Mary Nadji; a brother, John Nadji; four sisters: Mary Serement, Anna Coffman, Agnes Bailey and Helen Norris.
No Visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at the St. Mark Catholic Church, 235 East Fourth Street, Emporium, PA on Monday, (January 4, 2021) at 8:15 AM with Rev. Paul S. Siebert, Pastor, as Celebrant.
Burial will be in the St. Mark Catholic Cemetery, Emporium, PA with a Military Service accorded by the Cameron County Memorial Detail.
In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions may be made to the Emporium Volunteer Fire Department, 419 N. Broad St., Emporium, PA 15834 or to the Cameron County Ambulance Service, 299 E. Second St., Emporium, PA 15834

Mackina M. Harrier
Mackina M. Harrier, age 83, formerly of 301 W. Fifth St., Emporium, died early Wednesday morning December 30, 2020, at Penn Highlands Elk. She was born September 17, 1937, in Ridgway, daughter of the late Frank and Concettina (Curato) Sette. She resided in Ridgway for the last several years. She was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Emporium and St. Leo Catholic Church in Ridgway. She was a 1956 graduate of St. Leo High School and had been employed by Motor Coil in Emporium retiring in 2000 after 39 years.
She is survived by 1 grandson Tyler Harrier of DuBois, 1 sister Viola Eckert of St. Marys, 1 brother Carmen Sette of Spain, and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Brian Harrier; 4 brothers: John, Joseph, Patsy, and Dominic Sette; and 3 sisters: Rose Iorfido, Delores Sette, and Dora Santiso.
A Graveside Committal Service for Mackina M. Harrier will be private. Officiating will be Fr. Justin P. Pino, Pastor of St. Leo Catholic Church. Burial will be at St. Leo Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials, if desired, can be made to St. Leo Catholic Church. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Thompson Funeral Home.

Corn Distribution @ Rod & Gun Club
The Bucktail Rod and Gun Club will start distributing corn on Saturday January 16th, from 9:00 am until 10:00 am or later if ne essay at the Club house on Sizer Run Road.
We will give two bushels to each member with a 2021 card and will then charge $2.00 a bushel if you want more. We are very low on bags and suggest that you bring your own containers. We will continue to distribute corn every Saturday at the Same time till the corn is all distributed. We always can use help distributing the corn so if you can help it would be appreciated.

Mary C. Curcio
Mary C. Curcio, 69, a longtime resident of Emporium, died Monday, December 28, 2020 in Sena Kean Manor, Smethport.
Born January 5, 1951, in St. Marys, she was the daughter of John H. and Mary Yahnite Smith. She was a graduate of Cameron County High School and a member of St. Mark Catholic Church in Emporium.
Survivors include: one son, Brian McKeirnan of Crescent, PA; two sisters, Jeanne Everman of Morgan Hill, CA and Judy Topolski of Truckee, CA; two grandchildren and also nieces and nephews.
Mary was predeceased by two siblings, a brother John M. Smith and a sister Joan Tompkins.
There will be no visitation and private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Burial will be in St. Mark Cemetery, Emporium.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Coppersmith-Condon Funeral Home, Emporium.
James “Jim” Clair Shoup
James “Jim” Clair Shoup, age 91, passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Latrobe Area Hospital. Born February 19, 1929 he was the son of the late Peter and Marie Murray Shoup and was born, raised and lived in Emporium, PA. He was a 1948 graduate of
Emporium High School and it was there that he met the love of his life, Marilyn "June" Shoup. The two enjoyed 71 years of marriage together, welcoming 2 children, 5 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.
Jim worked for the Game Commission and retired from West Penn Power after 38 years of service. He was very active in the community, serving as a 4H Horse Club leader and later receiving a lifetime achievement award for the many years he served on the Penn State Extension Committee. He was a member of the Cameron County School Board for 25 years, 9 of those serving as president. He enjoyed spending time as a member of several clubs including the Emporium Men's Club, Bucktailers Campers and Hikers, the Emporium Driftwood Lodge F&AM, and the Coudersport Consistory. He will be remembered fondly by those who knew him for his contagious smile, love of his family, caring heart, and big hugs.
Along with his loving wife, he is survived by his children: son Dennis (Rebecca) Shoup of Austell, GA, and daughter Mary (David) Maxwell of Latrobe, PA, and grandchildren: Robbie (Tracie) Graham with son Bennett and daughter Zodie, Dyanna (Andrew) McCown, Leah (David) Macias with daughters Isabel Clair and Emerson Maria, Gregory (Samantha) Maxwell, and Claire (Dominic Scalise) Maxwell.
In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his brothers John E. Shoup and
Robert M. Shoup.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there will be no visitation. A virtual, private service will be held Saturday January 2nd for immediate family at the First United Methodist Church in Emporium with Pastor Joe Short officiating. Burial will be in Newton Cemetery, Emporium,
PA.
In his final years, Jim was lovingly cared for by the staff at Bethlen Home Memory Care Unit in Ligonier, PA. His family is forever grateful for their kindness and compassion for Jim and their other residents and request memorial donations in his memory be made to the Bethlen Home, 66 Cary School Rd, Ligonier, PA 15658 to continue their mission of caring for others.
In addition, memorials can also be made to the First United Methodist Church, 306 Spruce St. or the 4H Program c/o Cameron County Courthouse, 20 East Fifth St., both in Emporium, PA 15834.

Mary Catherine (Long) Sheaffer Dobson
Mary Catherine (Long) Sheaffer Dobson, 72, formally of Rich Valley Road, Emporium passed away at the Guy and Mary Felt Manor in Emporium early Sunday morning (December 27, 2020).
She was born April 5, 1948 in Driftwood PA a daughter of the late Charles and Catherine Saxton Long. She married the late Robert William Sheaffer who preceded her in death in 1998 and later she married Louis “Barney” Dobson who preceded her on April 17, 2020.
Mary was baptized December 17, 2000 by the late pastor Dwight Simpson.
She survived by her brother Richard (Donna Kay) Long of Emporium; two daughters, Julie Sheaffer Johnson and Tonya Sheaffer (James) Connolly; two grandchildren: Tabatha Connelly and Alyssa Johnson.
In addition to her parents and husbands she was preceded in death by her sister Gladys Long Gutshall.
At her request there will be no services or visitation.
Donations for the funeral expenses will be gratefully accepted and can be made online through Marys obituary at the Barnett Funeral Home web site.

Keystone now has the Moderna COVID Vaccine available at its Ridgway Medical Center and Cameron County Health Center. We are currently vaccinating those that qualify in Phase 1a of the State Vaccination plan.

____ Nursing home and assisted living facilities
____ Home healthcare
____ Vehicles where healthcare is delivered (e.g., mobile clinics)

____ Outpatient facilities such as dialysis centers, adult day facilities and others
If there is initially insufficient vaccine supply to cover all healthcare personnel, ACIP recommends “COVID-19 facing healthcare personnel,” should be prioritized. A COVID-19 facing unit is an area of a health care facility that is expected to care for individuals with COVID-19. This includes emergency departments, intensive care units, inpatient medical or surgical floors in acute care facilities, emergency medical services units, outpatient respiratory care clinics, and urgent care centers. ACIP recommends that Long-term care facility (LTCF) residents be prioritized in the earliest phases of COVID-19 vaccination. LTCF staff are considered healthcare personnel.
1. Skilled Nursing Facilities should be prioritized among LTCFs as they provide care to the most medically vulnerable residents.
2. After skilled nursing facilities have been vaccinated, the remaining LTCFs should be prioritized by licensure type based on factors related to COVID-19 infection risk.

William "Bill" Galey Chew
William "Bill" Galey Chew, 91, of Bethlehem, formerly of DuBois, passed away on Friday, December 25, 2020 at Holy Family Manor. He was the loving husband of the late Elizabeth "Betty" (Kassab) Chew for 60 years before her passing in September 2016. Born on August 30, 1929 in Prospect Park, PA, Bill was the son of the late William and Helen (Galey) Chew. Bill earned his engineering degree from Drexel University. After graduating he worked for GTE Sylvania and then Philips Lighting Corp. for many years until his retirement. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, DuBois. Bill had many joys in life but above all loved spending time with his grandkids. The family would like to thank the staff of Holy Family Manor and a family friend and caregiver, Danette Holzer, for their support and care for Bill in his last few years.
Survivors: Bill will be lovingly missed by his children: William J. Chew (Sara), David J. Chew (Patricia), Richard J. Chew (Theresa), Julie A. Shaw and Beth A. Kirkpatrick (Kyle); grandchildren: Aaron (Breanna) and their children, Leyton and Sadie, Danielle (Philip), Peter, Amy (Peter) and their children, Miles and Leo, Kelly (Christopher) and their children, Jackson and William, Michael, Daniel, James (Laura), Tyler, Jacob, Haley and Laura; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by sister, Helen Buckman and her husband, Irvin.
Services: A funeral service will be live streamed on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at 11:00 AM on Bill's obituary page at www.cantelmifuheralhome.com. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, Bethlehem.

Emporium Senior Center Update
Emporium Senior Center Update
As we head into a new year, we recognize that 2020 did not play out as we planned.
For the senior center, it meant taking indoor operations to a minimum and making Takeout Meals our main focus. We miss the bingo, the card playing, the general hustle and bustle and conversation…Most of all, we miss each individual.
It has sure looked different, but we are thankful that the meals have been able to continue on throughout everything.
Though we wish we could give you a date in which things will be back to “normal”, for now we do our best with what we have, continuing to move forward, with the Takeout Meals being our main focus.
If you are 60+ and live in PA and would like to register to begin picking up Takeout Meals at the door, call the senior center at 814-486-3707 for more details and to register.
Likewise, if you are someone who is looking to give back to the senior center in terms of volunteering, call - or email: kspencer@ohsaging.com - the senior center with availability and we can chat about how you may be able to pitch in.

Richard James 'Dick' Clancy
Richard James 'Dick' Clancy (75) of Emporium, PA peacefully passed into eternal rest December 25, 2020 in Tampa, Florida. Born April 13th 1945 in Rich Valley, PA. He was the son of the late Gerald and Lila (Hart) Clancy. He graduated from Austin Area High School in Austin, PA. On September 5th 1964, he married the love of his life Judith Lynn Gale at the Emporium Methodist Church. They made their home in Truman, PA where they raised 2 sons.
Dick enjoyed many activities during his life including: square dancing, camping, traveling, and snowmobiling. Most recently, he and Judy enjoyed wintering at their home in Avon Park, Florida where they had many family and friends. He was a very proud member of the Emporium-Driftwood Masonic Lodge for 50 years and served as Master in 1988. He was a member of the Emporium Moose Club.
A family man, Dick enjoyed time spent at gatherings with his wife, children, grandchildren, siblings, close friends and the 'lights of his life' his great granddaughters. He was especially excited of the arrival of his first great grandson.
Survivors are: wife Judy of 56 years, son James (Christian) Clancy of Truman, son Daniel (Kimberly) Clancy of Columbia, S.C., granddaughter Erin (Dylan) Shields of St. Marys, granddaughter Grace (Nolan) Sorg of St. Marys, great granddaughters Annalise and Violet Shields, brothers Robert and William Clancy, sisters Mary (Denny) Baker and Barb Clancy.
Preceded in death by: his parents, brother Edward Clancy, sisters Patty Hamilton and Ann Glover.
A private celebration of life will be held a later date.

Local Library Forgives All Outstanding Fines
Local Library Forgives All Outstanding Fines

In an effort to provide as much community support as possible during these challenging times, and as a bleated Christmas gift to all their patrons, the Barbara Moscato Brown Memorial Library Board has decided to forgive all outstanding patron fines and fees as of January 1, 2021.
Anyone who has outstanding fees from late or lost materials, regardless of how old or how large the amount, will have their fines completely cleared.
In total, the library will be forgiving approximately $9,900 in fines and fees across the board.
“We hope that this encourages anyone who may have been reluctant to use our services due to their inability to pay off old fees to start using some of the amazing resources the library offers,” said Librarian Yelena Kisler. “We have so many new digital and physical services, along with many new programs, and we hope people will take this opportunity to rediscover what the library can offer. And, spoiler alert, we offer a whole lot more than just books.”
Those who have restricted accounts due to fines will still be limited to the number of items they can check out for a minimal amount of time.

Joseph F. LaBrozzi, Sr
Joseph F. LaBrozzi, Sr., 99, of Sizerville Road, Emporium, PA died at Guy & Mary Felt Manor, Emporium, PA on Sunday morning (December 27, 2020). He was born September 10, 1921 in Emporium, PA a son of the late Vincent and Elizabeth Perry LaBrozzi. On August 9, 1941 in Russellton, PA he married the late Adeline "Della" Gentile.
Joe served with the US Navy during WW II. He worked in the maintenance department at Sylvania in Emporium for over 49 years. He was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church, and was a life member of the Miller-Raffaele Post 6221, VFW and a member of the American Legion Olkosky-Jessop Post 194, Emporium, the Loyal order of the Moose Lodge 368, Emporium and was a lifetime member of the Bucktail Rod and Gun Club. Joe was an avid hunter and sportsman. He enjoyed reloading ammunition and was an excellent marksman who always enjoyed friendly shooting competition. He was a independent masonry contractor who helped volunteer on many projects around the area.
He is survived by three daughters, Carol Ann (Robert) Ives, St. Augustine, FL; Diane Marie (Lee) Pesch, Phoenix, AZ; Anita Louise (Anthony) Pellegrino, Warren, PA; three sons, Lawrence J. (Sandra) LaBrozzi, Bradford, PA; Vincent P. (Karen) LaBrozzi, Glendale, AZ; Joseph F. (Nancy) LaBrozzi, Brady, TX; 14 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; a brother, Edward LaBrozzi, Emporium; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth E. LaBrozzi; six brothers, Francis, Dominic, Norman, Richard, Philip and Bernard LaBrozzi; sister, Irene Horning; granddaughter, Toni Lynn LaBrozzi.

Country Blessings Closing Until Next Spring
Due to the rising numbers of COVID 19 in the county, Country Blessings has regretfully decided to close until next Spring.
Since no volunteers will be working, Country Blessings will not be receiving donations of any kind. Please do not leave drop-offs at the building site, as they cannot be processed during this time of closure.
If anyone has a need, they may contact MaryAnn at 585-698-6645.
Masks will be required in the building per CDC regulations.

My brother’s husky went missing in Cooksburg, PA a few days ago while packing up to go home from a hunting trip. His name is Miko, and he is an unneutered male weighing about 50lb and is less than a year old. If you are heading out to north western PA this weekend, please keep an eye out for him. He was last seen with his collars on. He is also microchipped. If you are heading out hunting or hiking this weekend near the Allegheny Forrest, please keep an eye out for our baby. He is very friendly and very loved. His fur is black and white, and he has bright blue eyes. He has a double stripe on his right shoulder (see attached photo). These are the most recent photos of him.

With approximately 140 active COVID-19 coronavirus cases confirmed in Potter County and an estimated 700-900 other county residents unknowingly infected by the highly contagious disease, the importance of a free drive-through testing clinic that opens on Sunday in Coudersport could not be overstated.
“For yourself, for your loved ones, and for all of those around you, it just makes sense to be tested,” according to Potter County Commissioners Nancy Grupp, Barry Hayman and Paul Heimel.
Free testing will be available daily from 9 am to 6 pm on Sunday, Dec. 27, through Thursday, Dec. 31, at the back parking lot of Coudersport Area High School. Anyone age three and older can be tested. Mid-nasal passage swab tests will be performed.
No appointment is necessary, and the testing site is also open to residents from outside of Potter County. Patients are encouraged to bring a photo ID or insurance card. Turnaround time for testing results is two to seven days.
Individuals who test positive will receive a phone call. They will be provided with detailed instructions to help stop the spread. Individuals who test negative will receive a secured PDF by email.
“Over the past several weeks, we have seen a rapid increase of positive case counts in the region, which gives us significant cause for concern,” said Pa. Health Secretary Dr. Rachel Levine. Potter County has had more than 400 confirmed COVID-19 cases diagnosed since Nov. 18.
McKean’s case count has risen by 1,060 and Tioga’s by 1,160 over the same five-week period. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control recently announced study results showing that, for every confirmed carrier, there are between seven and eight victims who are not aware that they are infected.
Potter County Emergency Management Coordinator Glenn Dunn has been working closely with the Health Department and its testing contractor to make local arrangements. He noted that access will be from East Second Street (Rt. 6) onto Park Avenue and Ross Street.

James W. "Murph" Murray, 89, of 311 Howard Circle, Emporium, PA
died at Guy & Mary Felt Manor, Emporium, PA on Friday afternoon (December 25, 2020).
He was born March 30, 1931 in Emporium, PA a son of the late John and Marian Judd Murray. On May 11, 1962 in St. Mark Church he married Suzanne Sullivan, who survives.
Jim graduated from Emporium High School in the class of 1950. He attended Penn State University until he was drafted October 1952 into the US Army, medical corp., and was deployed to Korea. Jim was discharged as a corporal in September 1954. After returning home he entered Gettysburg College, graduating in 1959, with a Bachelor of business degree. He worked at S.S. Kressage in Harrisburg for one year before returning home to Emporium. He worked for the Postal Service in Emporium as a carrier and office clerk until his retirement in 1996. As a young man he played softball in the Emporium Softball League and bowled on different leagues until the closing of the lanes. He was a diehard Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed walking his dog every day.
In addition to his wife he is survived by a son, Kenneth Lewis, Emporium; grandson, Richard Lewis, Emporium; sister, Edith Walker Isacki, Gaithersberg, MD.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Alice Stephenson and Edna Schager; and a brother, Judd Murray.
There will be No Visitation.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at the St. Mark Catholic Church, 235 East Fourth Street, Emporium, PA on Monday, (December 28, 2020) at 9:00 AM with Rev. Paul S. Siebert, Pastor, as Celebrant.
The Mass will be streamed live on St. Mark Catholic Church, Emporium facebook page.
Burial will be in the St. Mark Catholic Cemetery, Emporium, PA

New Ladder Truck Arrives @ Emporium Fire Department
Yesterday the Rosenbauer 109 foot ladder truck arrived at the Emporium Volunteer Fire Department.
This truck was purchased to replace the old tower 14 truck.
Sinnemahoning State Park Office Holiday Hours
The Sinnemahoning State Park office will be closing at 11:30 AM on Thursday, December 24th for the Christmas holiday.
We will reopen at 8:00 AM on Monday, December 28th.
The park office is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

CC conservation District Assists With Manure Storage Building
In September the Conservation District built a manure storage building at Junior Grimone's farm in North Creek. The project was funded by a Growing Greener Grant received by Headwaters Resource Conservation and Development Council. The new manure storage building allows for the manure from the pigs on the Grimone Farm to be stored under a covered roof out of the rain and the elements. It eliminates nutrient runoff from the former manure storage area that was entering North Creek during heavy rain events.
The new manure storage building will also allow the Grimone Farm to store the manure throughout winter so that it can be applied during the growing season in the spring, when the nutrients can be best utilized by the crops. By applying the manure during the spring growing season, it reduces the risk of runoff carrying manure from the fields into nearby waterways, while optimizing the fertility benefit of the manure and reducing the costs for purchasing and applying synthetic fertilizers. The Cameron County Commissioners will convene a Special/Emergency Meeting on December 30, 2020 at 10:00AM in the main courtroom of the Cameron County Courthouse, 20 E 5th St., Emporium PA.
The limited purpose of this meeting is to revise the 2021 County Budget.
Unless otherwise ordered, these restrictions do not apply to court operations. Any restrictions or changes to court operations will be communicated through the 59th Judicial District. The latest Administrative Order is posted on the COVID-19 link under documents. It is also posted on the Main Door of the Cameron County Courthouse.

CC Conservation District Assists Water Tank Installation
Cameron County Conservation District
In December the Cameron County Conservation District assisted Bill and Cathy Lyon with the installation of a water tank on their Bryan Hill Farm.
The water tank installation is a phase of a larger US Department of Agriculture, Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) funded project to cost-share the installation of water troughs and fencing on the Lyon Farm pasture so that the Lyons can rotationally graze their cattle herd. Rotational grazing has a number of environmental benefits that occur by allowing pastures to adequately rest between grazing. Soil health improves, carbon is sequestered in the soil to increase its organic content and rainwater infiltration increases while reducing stormwater runoff and soil erosion. Farmers also see economic benefits to rotational grazing through increased forage production in pastures, an increase in drought resilience in pastures, decreased "weed" problems and an extended grazing season.

2nd Annual Holiday Book Gifting Program a Huge Success
The Barbara Moscato Brown Memorial Library is excited to announce that our 2nd annual Holiday Book Gifting Program was a huge success this year. Through the generosity of our community members who purchased “ornaments” through the program, we were able to gift books to all 37 children in Cameron County who submitted a request.
A special “thank you” to Bunny McLean for donating some inspirational bookmarks to go with all the gifts.
Parents can stop by the library any time during regular library hours to pick up the gifts. The library will be closed for the holiday after 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 23, and will commence services on Monday, December 28. The library building remains closed to the public, so parents are asked to ring the bell in the foyer and a staff member will bring the books out to you.

Cameron County Community Chest 2021 Fund Drive – Dec. Update
We are eleven weeks into the 2021 fund drive. Over 200 letters have gone out to local individuals, businesses and organizations. We have had a great start. Through Dec. 18th we have collected $8,575 toward our $19,000 goal. Thanks to all who have contributed. This drive will run through September 30, 2021.
Watch for our monthly updates. Each month we will feature a write up on one of the organizations that the Cameron County Community Chest contributes to. This month’s feature will be the Cameron County Recreation Board.
Cameron County Recreation Center provides many different services to the local community. The main focus is to provide a safe but fun environment for area youth to enjoy.
The game room is open Monday through Saturday and offers a variety of table games and electronic gaming. The membership cost is $5.00 per year and includes use of the outdoor basketball court and pickle ball court. They have two rooms available for rent for meetings and parties. The large room is the most popular for parties and can be rented for a minimal fee. There is no charge for non-profit rentals. Tables and chairs can be rented (when available) as well as outdoor party games. Zumba and Yoga classes are held throughout each week. The Recreation Center hopes to continue to collaborate with the 4-H program to provide out of school programs for youth ages 8-18 as well as summer 4-H programs. Summer participants are able to enjoy time at the South Park and Third Street playground. The playgrounds are supervised, participants are given the opportunity to participate in many collaborated activities including presentations from many community organizations, trips to Sinnemahoning State Park and the Elk Viewing Center, programs at Sizerville State Park, art classes, slime making and lots of other fun programs. We try to provide as many fun and educational programs as possible. Cameron County Recreation is also responsible for organizing and scheduling games for the girls and boy’s 4th through 6th grade elementary basketball program.
Cameron County Recreation Center is funded partly by the County, Emporium Foundation and Community Chest. The 4-H and summer programs are funded entirely by grants from the Emporium Foundation. John Gary Pasquinelli, Sr
John Gary Pasquinelli, Sr., most recently from Cary, NC, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at the age 73.
John was born on May 10, 1947 to the late Etole and Mildred (Croom) Pasquinelli in Norfolk, VA. He spent his entire childhood in Kersey on Coal Hollow Road and graduated from St. Marys Area High School in 1965.
John was the proud father of four children: Paula (John) Garczynski of Erie, PA; Melissa Pasquinelli (Sean Mitton) of Cary, NC; Amanda (Mike) Sockett of Mentor, OH; and John (Amelia) Pasquinelli, Jr. of Holly Springs, NC; as well as a loving grandfather to Evan and Owen Sockett and Tyler Mitton Pasquinelli, all of whom survive. Besides his children, John is also survived by a sister, Patricia Pasquinelli of Kersey; a brother, Brent Pasquinelli of State College; and several uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his former wife, Sue (Wickett) Pasquinelli, with whom he shared his four children.
John was a veteran of the Vietnam conflict, serving for two years with the Army at Fort Bliss, TX. After his time in the military, he moved to St. Marys where he worked for 20 years at Carbon City Products as a tool and die maker and manufacturing engineer. He, along with his former wife Sue, started the first grinding company in Elk County, J.& S. Grinding Inc. located in Ridgway, in 1987, which he owned and operated for many years before retiring. He volunteered in the community as a little league coach, and was Past Chairman of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers and also a Past Grand Knight and a 4th degree knight of Council 567 of the Knights of Columbus. He was a 50 year life member of Post 103 American Legion in St. Marys, and also belonged to the CMF, Moose, PFL, and the VFW of Emporium.
John will be lovingly remembered by his children and those who knew him as someone with an incredible sense of humor who could tell the best stories, and who enjoyed spending time with others and laughing at a good joke. He seemed to know someone wherever he went, or would make new connections — even his new NC community was already fond of his enthusiastic friendliness. He had a deep love of his country and was proud to have served it. He was passionate about American history, hunting, fishing, golfing, and rooting for his sports teams as a lifelong Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins fan.
A Memorial Mass will be held at the St. Boniface Church in Kersey at a later date and time to be announced.
