Author Amy Case - Secret of the Waterfall

Sharing the latest book release by Author Amy Case - Secret of the Waterfall
Some of Amy's books are available at the Barbara Brown Moscato Library in Emporium

Amazon shares a little bit about Amy - born & raised in Emporium I can remember going to her house and riding ponies with her older sister. Fun times. I enjoy reading her books and wish her much success.

"In {1962}, Amy Nellis was born just outside a small country town, nestled deep within the confines of the Appalachian Mountain Range in Pennsylvania. Growing up in a large farming family, there was always something fun and exciting going on which seemingly inspired her to write her stories. With a love for reading and a passion for writing all of her life, she had a few articles published in the local newspaper. Amy declined various times, when approached as a young adult, to have her articles published. For many years, Amy continued to secretly write and eventually gave it up all together. It wasn’t until many years later, in {2016}, with the gentle nudging from her husband, that she finally permitted her work to become published. Amy gains inspiration for her stories through her and her husband’s travels. Amy Case, now resides in Middle Tennessee, with her husband, Jackie."

Discover the History of the PA Wilds

HISTORIC TALES OF THE PENNSYLVANIA WILDS presented by local Author Kathy Myers
Saturday October 15, 2022 at Emporium VFW at 1:00 PM

Please join the Cameron County Historical Society for their annual Fall membership program as Author Kathy Myers reveals the early history of the Pennsylvania Wilds.

The wilds as we think of them today is an amazing tourist attraction to many. Beyond the stunning scenery of sixteen thousand miles of streams and river, lies important history of early America. But over 200 years ago it was anything but. Meyers a descendent of a Mayflower passenger and seventh generation in her family to live in the Wilds, unveils accounts and events of the time.

Her book features the famous Indian Chief, Cornplanter, who following the American Revolution, sought to understand white society. During this time a young George Washington traversed the expanse, cutting his teeth as a military leader. Violence between Native Americans and colonists in the territory, left its bloody mark, from the Penn's Creek Massacre to the Great Cove Massacre. After the American revolution, early settler families forged roots through the wilderness, built communities and developed the region into a patchwork of frontier towns.

The novel unveils newspaper accounts and events of the time, that sheds light on colonial government with the Native Americans on the 40-year conflict between these groups.

Myers is a native of Ridgway, Elk County, PA who currently resides in Beechwood, Jefferson County although her roots run deep into Elk and Cameron County's. She is descendant of the Winslow family of Winslow Hill also the Hicks and Smith families of Cameron County. She is a historian, genealogist, and writer a member of a endless amount of National and local area Historical Society's that include holding various office within them.

Prior to retiring Myers was director of marketing at Elk County Ridgway Hospital and the owner of Area Abstracting and Filing Service serving Clearfield and Jefferson Counties. Her passion of who we are and what our ancestors went through has remained everlasting as she continues her journey of uncovering our history.

This is an author you don't want to miss getting know and what she has to share about her discoveries of our PA Wilds early history. Please join us on Saturday October 15, 2022 at 1:00 PM at the Emporium VFW you do not have to be a member to come. Hearty appetizers and beverages will be included for $12 RSVP call 814-486-4314 by Wednesday October 12, 2022.
