Doris Marie Peno, 89, of Grove St., Sinnemahoning, died Saturday, October 2, 2021 in her home.
Born August 18, 1932 in Lancaster she was the daughter of William and Agnes Fredrick Gerfen. On November 5, 1948 in Middletown, PA, she married Lee E. Peno who passed away March 8, 2006.
Mrs. Peno attended Middletown High School and was employed by the Rough Wear Clothing Company in Middletown.
Following her marriage and relocation to Sinnemahoning in 1948, she was basically a homemaker but had been employed there by Fulton's General Store for 9 years.
She was a member of the Sinnemahoning United Methodist Church, was an avid gardener, and was very well known for the great number of hummingbirds she and her many visitors enjoyed.
Survivors include: one son, Robert L. Peno and wife Linda of Sinnemahoning; one daughter, Leeann Macro of Sinnemahoning; two grandchildren, Kasey L. Macro and wife Natasha of Emporium, and Bobbie Sue Peno of Sinnemahoning; one step grandson, Dallas Weaver of Tampa, Florida; one step great granddaughter, Aubrey Uber of Emporium; three brothers, John A. Gerfen of Port St. Lucie, Florida, William C. Gerfen of Mill Hall, PA, and Richard Gerfen of Leesburg, Georgia; and also nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 5 from 4-7 p.m. in the Coppersmith-Condon Funeral Home, Emporium and in the Sinnemahoning United Methodist Church Wednesday, October 6 from 10-11 a.m. at which time Funeral Services will held with Rev. Kenneth Bailey, pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow in Gilmore Cemetery, Grove Township.
