David E. Zuback

 

David E. Zuback, 62, of Main St.,Sinnemahoning, died Sunday, October 17, 2021 in his home surrounded by his loving family. Born December 2, 1958 in Sinnemahoning, PA. he was the son of the late Joseph Lyle Sr. and Lois Karlene Green Zuback. 

 Mr. Zuback graduated from Cameron County High School and was a self employed mechanic. Dave was a member of the Renovo VFD since 2018, and the Bucktail VFD in Driftwood from 2005-2007 when they merged with the Sinnemahoning Volunteer Fire Department where he was Fire Police Captain until he took ill. He was the founder of Support for Amputees as a non-profit that provides peer counseling to newly injured amputees at St. Francis Hospital in Pittsburgh and Harmar Rehabilitation Center in Harmarville, PA.

Dave always sought to help those with disabilities struggling to achieve their own independence. His priority was traveling to various industrial locations and presenting & highlighting how lapses in safety protocols had far reaching and catastrophic consequences. He was a player for Pittsburgh Steelwheelers wheelchair basketball team, Allegheny Mountain Rolling Thunder basketball team and a member of the National Wheelchair Basketball Association.

Survivors include: his longtime girlfriend Kelly Valdez of Sinnemahoning; one daughter, Shannon (Scott) Penfield of St. Marys; grandchildren, Lashea Penfield, Sean Lathrop, Rhianna Penfield, and Dillon and Brayden Cannella all of St. Marys; one brother, Joseph (Maria) Zuback of Pittsburgh; two nieces, Victoria and Abigail Zuback of Pittsburgh; and his beloved dog, Shadow.

The family will receive friends Friday, October 22 from 1-3 and 5-7 p.m. in the Coppersmith-Condon Funeral Home, Emporium and Saturday October 23 in the Sinnemahoning United Methodist Church from 10-11 a.m. at which time Funeral Services will be held with Robert Spaeth, officiating. Burial will follow in Miller Cemetery, Grove Township.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Community Nurses Hospice, 757 Johnsonburg Rd., St Marys 15857, the Renovo VFD, 230 11th St. Renovo 17764, or the Sinnemahoning VFD, 186 Railroad St., Sinnemahoning 15861.
