Martha Ann Berry

 

Martha Ann Berry, 75, of Emlenton, formerly of Emporium, passed away Monday afternoon, September 13, 2021 in the comfort of her home while in the company of her family.

Martha was born in Hammondsport, New York on December 5, 1945. She was the daughter of the late Max and Felicia Viselli Patterson. Martha was of the Catholic faith. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, traveling with her husband in their R.V. and most especially the company of her Chihuahuas. Martha and her husband John purchased the Gaslight Campground in Emlenton in 2004 and operated the campground until 2013 when they sold it to their son Mike. Martha was very patriotic and enjoyed visiting with the campers as well as the annual campground car show.

Martha was married on March 2, 1962 in Emporium to John L. Berry, Jr. Mr. Berry preceded her in death on June 1, 2019.

She is survived by three children, Jacqueline A. “Jackie” Smith and her husband Tim of Millerton, Gregory A. Berry and his wife Sophia of Emporium, and Michael J. Berry of Emlenton; her grandchildren, Nick, Cody, Miranda, Nicole, Chad, Heather, B.J., Heath, Macie, Makenna, Justin, and Scott; nine great grandchildren; four brothers: Dean and Gene Patterson and Emery and Tom Cummings; a sister, Debbie Cummings, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Jean and Sandy, and a brother, Max.

A graveside service officiated by the Rev. Paul Siebert, pastor of St. Mark Roman Catholic Church in Emporium will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2021. Interment will be in Portage Township Cemetery in Emporium. 

 Memorial contributions in Mrs. Berry’s name may be made to Amedysis Hospice Foundation, 3854 American Way Baton Rouge, LA 70816 or a local hospice of one’s choice. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hile Funeral Home Inc., Emlenton.
