Emporium Rotary Club
Rotarian Lori Reed hosted this week's program. Her program was about her 20 year and ongoing book club, "Eight is Enough Book Club". Lori mentioned that they currently are in their 177th book and stated that each member chooses the book of the month and after reading, they assemble to each other's home to have a discussion. During their time together, they raised families, retired from their respective careers and some became grandmothers. "In a world that often feels divided and distracted, a book club slows us down. Gives us time to think, discuss and laugh - sometimes even disagree - all while building friendships". Lori also mentioned that Benjamin Franklin began the first men's book club in 1727 which lasted 38 years and in 1827 the 1st black women club started.
