Sinnemahone Ultra Trail Run Traveling New Routes
The annual Sinnemahone Ultra Trail Run set for Saturday October 18.
The event includes three distances from which competitors can select.
The 50k, 25k, and 12k will be take place primarily on Elk State Forest land.
The start and finish remain on the West Creek Recreational Trail and 5 aid stations will have refreshments and a representative from Mountaineer Search & Rescue to maintain radio contact in case of any emergencies. The route change allows runners to practice on the routes year-round.
Organizers say 2024 was the last year of a 5-year DCNR approval pact.
If any route changes were planned this was the year to make them.
Also a section of the former routes involved a pipeline which has now been abandoned and no longer maintained. Organizers say they are looking for a person or group to mark one section of the trail and also 2 relief workers for aid stations.. Anyone interested in helping or registering should contact the chamber office.
