Look Up Cameron County
Our last cyclist in our Adventure Biking Series is Rodger Eckert. Rodger started on a bike about 7 years ago. He began on the rail trail in Cameron County thinking it would be nice to just get out there on the trails. That ride was about 4 miles, which at the time he thought that made him a hero. Now, he is riding long, challenging trails. He enjoys the scenery here in Cameron County on his routes. He also enjoys some snowy rides after a fresh snowfall. He recommends getting the best bike you can afford at a bike shop, and to not get caught up in buying lots of fancy products to go along with it. Whatever fits comfortably for you to ride. His favorite rides are May Hollow Road and trails around Sizerville State Park. He does not keep track of how far he rides, he just knows about how far he can ride in one hour. This is how he keeps track of his riding, which goes to show he can easily just get on the bike and start riding with a clear mind. He competes in the Beyond the Dirt bike race each year and enjoys connecting with other riders and riding together on the trails. His advice to other riders would be, “Don’t make it a competition, just ride at your own pace and keep your pedals turning!” Thank you Rodger for interviewing with us so we could gain more insight on your journey through cycling!
