George Stockburger IV

My dad and his family were lifelong camp owners and hunters in Sinnemahoning and Driftwood. 

He loved Elk and Cameron County, the Elk Alliance, and the wildlife in central PA. 

He was also a member of the Sinnemahoning Sportsman Club.

George Stockburger IV of New Hope, formerly of Richboro and Newtown, died peacefully at his home on Thursday September 18, 2025, with his beloved wife Nancy by his side. He was 83.

Born in Abington, Pennsylvania, George was the cherished husband of Nancy J. Forrest Stockburger for 60 years and the son of the late George 3rd and Mary Eleanor Finney Stockburger.

George grew up in Southampton and graduated from William Tennent High School, class of 1959. He received his undergraduate degree in Business from Ryder University in 1964, going on to serve in the Army National Guard.

In 1957, while in High School, George started working with his father at the family automobile dealership on State Street in Newtown. He continued the family legacy of Stockburger Chevrolet and Stockburger Chrysler for over 50 years, until the dealerships closed in May of 2009.

During his time leading the dealerships, George earned several prestigious awards. From General Motors Corp., he was honored with the 25-Year and 50-Year Awards for his outstanding performance in sales and customer service. Both George and the dealership were recognized with the Legacy Leader Proclamation and Pin. Additionally, George received special recognition at an Awards Dinner in Washington, DC, where he had the honor of meeting former President George Bush.

A strong and respected presence in the Newtown community, George was a member of the Newtown Rotary for over 38 years, including a term as president, and received the Paul Harris Fellowship Award. He served on the Board of the Newtown Reliance Company for Detecting and Apprehending Horse Thieves and Other Villains. Additionally, he was a member of Masonic Lodge #427 F & AM of Newtown, recently receiving his 60 year membership pin. George was a proud lifetime member of the Keystone Elk Country Alliance, a life member of the NRA, and a distinguished rifleman of the Conestoga Rod and Gun Club of which his family were founding members. George and Nancy were dedicated band parents for their five children over twelve consecutive years with the Council Rock Indian Marching Band. They selflessly gave their time, love and dedication to the music program.

George and Nancy enjoyed traveling throughout the United States in their motorhome, visiting all the contiguous states. As a couple, they enjoyed trips to Alaska, Hawaii, Europe, Canada and Mexico. An avid outdoorsman, George excelled at trap shooting, hunting and fishing, and especially loved sharing the outdoors with his grandchildren at their mountain home in Driftwood, PA. George enjoyed many hunting trips throughout the United States, including Wyoming, Colorado and Alaska, as well as the Yukon Territory. He will be fondly remembered for his contagious smile, quick wit, firm handshake and unimpeachable integrity. He was proud to be an American and loved the United States.

In addition to his wife, Nancy, George is survived by his five children: George V and his wife Kim, Amy Goldberg and her husband Mark, Jennifer Frawley and her husband Sean, Rebecca Rice and her husband Thomas, and Heather Blady and her husband Andrew. He was the proud grandfather of thirteen: George VI, Matthew, Sean Patrick (Catherine), Sarah (Derek), Tim, Declan, Dan, Adam, Thomas, Andy, Christopher, Ronan, and Jake. He is also survived by his three sisters Mary Forrest (the late Charles and Frank), Laura Scheithauer (Bob), and Susan Fridy (Nate).

Relatives and friends are invited to greet George’s family on Tuesday September 23, 2025 from 9:30 am until his Masonic Service at 10:45 am followed by his Funeral Service 11:00am at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.) Richboro.

A private interment will follow.
