March Recreation Center Survey Results & Prize Winner Announcement

Cameron County Recreation Center
March Recreation Center Survey Results & Prize Winner Announcement

During the month of March, we conducted a community survey to better understand who is using the Recreation Center, gather feedback on current offerings, and hear your suggestions for new programs. One key takeaway from the survey was a common misconception: many residents believe the Recreation Center is primarily for youth. In reality, the center is designed for everyone in Cameron County to enjoy, regardless of age.

It also became clear that many people are unaware of the full range of activities available. We want to change that. Several fantastic suggestions came in, particularly from those aged 30 to 50, expressing interest in fun, social activities like dodgeball and kickball tournaments. There were also great ideas like opening the game room to adults during lunchtime for a quick game of pool. One of the most surprising and exciting findings? The overwhelming interest in Pickleball! It's the most frequently mentioned sport in the survey, and many community members have personally shared their enthusiasm for having a dedicated Pickleball court.

I want to thank everyone who took the time to complete the survey. Your input is invaluable, and we’re committed to making the Recreation Center a dynamic hub for the whole community. We’re already exploring how we can bring many of your ideas to life.

As a token of our appreciation, everyone who submitted a survey was entered into a prize drawing. One of our Game Room members had the honor of picking the winner.
🎉 Congratulations to Bunny McKlean!

You've won a $30 Chamber Bucks Gift Card and some of Kathie's Kandies Chocolate Peanut Clusters—a delicious local treat available at the Cameron County Chamber building. Bunny, you can stop by the Recreation Center to pick up your prize!

Thank you again to everyone who participated. Let’s keep the ideas coming and continue building a Recreation Center that truly reflects and serves our entire community!
