Cameron County Community Chest 2025 Fund Drive – April Update

Cameron County Community Chest 2025 Fund Drive – April Update

We are almost there!! Through April 14th we have collected $15,932 toward our $16,600 goal. Thanks to all who have contributed. This drive will run through September 30, 2025.
Each month we feature a write up on one of the organizations that the Cameron County Community Chest contributes to. This month’s feature will be the Cameron County Recreation Center.

Cameron County Recreation Center provides many different services to the local community. It is the mission of the recreation department to provide quality spaces, equipment, and opportunities for recreation to the residents of Cameron County. In doing so we hope to encourage healthy, educational, and constructive outlets to all members of the community, especially our youth. The Recreation center aims to provide recreation for all people both within and outside of Cameron County.

The game room is open to members (ages 8-18) throughout the week and offers a variety of table games and electronic gaming. The Membership cost is $10.00 for one year. Currently, Recreation has teamed up with Barbra Moscato Brown Memorial Library. All new game room members with a valid BMBML card can get a discount on their game room membership for the 2025 year. In return valid game room members can receive a discount on Swag products at BMBML. The game room may be reserved for private use and there are other rooms available for meetings and parties, all at a minimal fee. Tables and chairs can be used (when available) as well as outdoor party games. There is no charge for use by non-profit organizations. Locals hold regular fitness classes, and other public events are sometimes held at the center, often in coordination with community partnerships. Please contact the center for more information, visit camcorecreation.redesk.com, or check them out on Facebook at Cameron County Recreation Center.

The Recreation Center hopes to continue to collaborate with the 4-H program to provide out of school programs for youth ages 8-18 as well as summer 4-H programs. Summer participants are able to enjoy time at the South Park and Third Street Playground. The playgrounds are supervised; participants are given the opportunity to participate in many collaborated activities including presentations from many community organizations, trips to Sinnemahoning State Park and the Elk Viewing Center, programs at Sizerville State Park, arts and crafts, STEM activities, and lots of other fun programs. The goal is to provide as many fun and educational programs as possible. Cameron County Recreation is also responsible for organizing the girl’s and boy’s 4 th through 6 th grade elementary basketball program. The County has also been working with the Center to help revitalize the old landfill on May Hollow Road. The land will be utilized as a dark skies and wildlife viewing area. Cameron County Recreations goal is to promote educational and healthy activities for people of all ages in a safe environment.

Cameron County Recreation Center is funded by the County, Emporium Foundation, and the Community Chest. The 4-H and summer programs are funded entirely by grants from the Emporium Foundation. For questions about any of the programs that are provided please contact the Recreation Director, Dannielle Mason by phone (814) 486-9378 or by e-mail at camcorecreation@gmail.com.

No donation/memorial is too small. Please send your tax-deductible contributions to: Cameron County Community Chest, PO Box 134, Emporium, PA 15834 Attn: Judd Schager. Help to support the Recreation Center, Community Nurses, Red Cross, Friends of the Library, the Package Team, Garden Club, and Special Community Requests.
