David J. Groome, 75, of Emporium, PA. David passed away peacefully on the morning of Wednesday (April 23, 2025), at UPMC Shadyside in Pittsburgh following complications from a year long journey of Stage 4 Tongue and Throat Cancer . A kind-hearted man with a quiet resilience, David led a life full of passion for learning, and a deep appreciation for music, nature, culture and family.
Born on January 12, 1950, in Edmonton, London, England, David was the son of the late Joyce Groome.
Before relocating to the United States, he worked for family in Electrical Wholesales and then held an administrative position working under former UK Foreign Secretary Jack Straw—an opportunity that reflected his sharp intellect and dedicated spirit. On June 1, 1999, he married the love of his life, Diana M. Hastings, in Hackney, England. Together they built a life of mutual support and shared joys. David was deeply involved in Wilson’s Disease awareness and support communities in both the UK and U.S., showing a profound commitment to helping others on similar health journeys.
David’s greatest pleasures included cheering on his beloved Tottenham Hotspurs, tending to his garden, losing himself in the pages of a good book or a classic Western film, traveling, and listening to music from all genres.

Groome; his children: Dawn Hindes (Chris) of Walthamstow, London, Howard Groome of Hertfordshire, London, Coral Davis (Charles) of London, and Jessica Groome (Steve) of Romford, Essex; and his stepchildren: Brandon Alloe of St. Marys, and Kaleena Tabicas (Virgil) of Fall River, MA.
