Rotary Club of Emporium
·
Rotarian "Bunny" McLean was our guest speaker this week.
Bunny gave us a summary of all the years of involvement within our community. In 1977, Bunny compiled a book for CB radio users. This was categorized by CB handle names followed by the owner of the CB handle. He also made and distributed 2,000 bookmarkers to children. In 1990 he, Tom Vislay, and Dan Crapser developed a board game called "Treasure Resort". This game was patented and 2,000 of them were sold and passed around.
After 32 years, Bunny retired from GKN and began volunteering with Guy and May Felt Manor, Cameron County School District, worked with adults with disabilities at the Oak Manor in St. Marys, designed and directed over 16 haunted houses in Cameron County, volunteers at and raises money for the Prospect Park Playground, and is a member of various organizations. Bunny also was a recipient of our Rotary's "Service Above Self" award. Bunny also enjoys writing poems and donates proceeds from his poetry book sales to local organizations. We thank Bunny for his "hopping" around and providing services to our community.
