Eugene "Gene" Allen Slagle

Eugene "Gene" Allen Slagle Sr., 77, died January 12, 2025, at the hospital surrounded by his wife and family.

He was born April 30, 1947, in Kittanning, PA. He was the son of Ossroe and Laura (Bowser) Slagle, both preceding him in death.

Gene graduated from DuBois Area High School, Class of 1965. Following graduation, he worked as a machinist and tool maker. In 1987, Gene married the love of his life, Iris Slagle, and they celebrated 37 years of marriage in June. He went back to school and graduated from Triangle Tech with an associate's degree in specialized technology, carpentry, and construction in 2004. He was recognized with high honors and was on the Dean's List. Gene was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved the outdoors and being in the wilderness. While in Florida, he enjoyed hitting the golf course with his buddies. But above all he loved God and his family, and his family loved him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an older brother, Wilbert Slagle.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Iris (Patton) Slagle, are his three beloved daughters, Laura-Elizabeth Slagle of New Port Richey, Stacey (McKeever) Averill of Troutville, PA, Dawn (McKeever) Larson of DuBois, PA, two sons, Eugene Slagle Jr., and Jason Slagle, five grandchildren that were very close to him, Christopher Larson of Irvona, PA, D.J. Clark of DuBois, PA, Iris Chileski, of DuBois, PA, Jonah Averill of DuBois, PA, and Bryton Averill of Troutville, PA, and one great-grandson, Carter, along with two sisters, Janice (Slagle) Gricks of Penfield, PA, and Brenda (Slagle) Bortz of Penfield, PA, a brother, Victor Slagle of Emporium, PA, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at Faith Baptist Church in New Port Richey, FL on Jan. 16, 2025. Family and friends will be received at 2 p.m.

A celebration of life will occur in Sabula, PA at the Sabula Methodist Church on Friday, Jan. 24, 2025. Family and friends will be received from 6-8 p.m.
