DUBOIS, Pa. – A game-ending 13-4 run lifted visiting Cameron County to a 74-70 win over DuBois Central Catholic.
The Red Raiders trailed 66-61 following a free throw by DCC’s Xavier Schwentner with 4:12 to play.
But Cameron County scored the next eight points to take control of the game.
Ryan Shaffer scored five points during the run while Landon Farren had an old-fashioned 3-point play that tied the game at 66 with 3:23 to play.
Shaffer’s bucket with 2:30 left gave the Red Raiders the lead, 68-66, for good.
DCC was still within a point, though, 69-68, following a Marek Hoyt bucket with 1:17 left before Beckett Bure and Shaffer hit two free throws each between 48.6 seconds and 23.4 seconds left to help salt the game away.
The Cardinals started fast and led 22-11 early and still held a 26-19 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Cameron County inched back within three, 39-36, at halftime and cut the deficit to one, 60-59, going to the fourth quarter before CC started the quarter with a 6-1 spurt.
Shaffer and Farren had big nights for the Red Raiders combing for 54 points led by Shaffer’s 28 with Farren adding 26.
Hoyt had 25 for DCC with Luke Fragle and Zayden Jordan each adding 12 points.
