Genesee & Wyoming’s America 250th Anniversary Locomotives
Genesee & Wyoming (G&W) has unveiled a series of special locomotives to mark America’s 250th anniversary in 2026, each featuring a unique American icon tied to the region where the locomotive operates Yahoo+1.
Design and Themes
The commemorative units are painted in a blue base with red and white details and the phrase “America 250 Years”.
Each locomotive displays a distinct symbol of American heritage:
Liberty Bell – Buffalo & Pittsburgh Railroad (C44-9W No. 4434), with a darker blue car body
G&W’s design choices focus on specific American icons relevant to each railroad’s location and history, aiming to create a unique tribute for each operation Yahoo. The campaign is part of a broader network of short-line and regional railroads rolling out commemorative locomotives nationwide to celebrate the 250th anniversary ASLRRA.
