Bridge Replacement Along Route 120 in St. Marys Starts Monday
Clearfield, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that a bridge replacement project along Route 120 in the City of St. Marys will start on Monday, April 6. This project will replace a deteriorating structure built in 1925 that spans Big Run, improving the ride quality over the bridge.
Starting Monday, drivers can expect to encounter flaggers in the roadway, providing traffic control, as excavation work begins and temporary traffic signals are placed at each end of the work zone. PennDOT projects the excavation work will continue for approximately a month. Once complete, the contractor will close the westbound lane of Route 120 heading toward St. Marys and Ridgway and activate the temporary traffic signals.
PennDOT anticipates that work on the westbound lane will continue until early July, before the contractor closes the eastbound lane heading toward Emporium. It will issue an update before work shifts to the eastbound lane.
Work scheduled under this contract includes removal of the existing bridge, construction of its replacement concrete box culvert, approach paving, guide rail installation, drainage improvement, line painting, and miscellaneous construction. HRI, Inc. of State College, PA, is the contractor on this $1.6 million project. PennDOT anticipates project completion in late July, but all construction schedules are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
