Sizerville State Park Environmental Education Programs Memorial Day Weekend 2025

Program Title: Stream Study Date: Saturday, May 24 th Time: 3:00 PM Location: Near Pavilion 3 Description: Join the park educator to look for macroinvertebrates, like stoneflies and crayfish, in the stream, along with learning their importance. Short talk followed by exploring the stream - expect to get wet so bring along water shoes, swimsuits, and a towel! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Program Title: The Royal Bird of Prey Date: Saturday, May 24 th Time: 8:00 PM Location: Campground Amphitheater Description: Come out and join the park educator for a program that will cover everything there is to know about Bald Eagles! Habitat, diet, fun facts, population, and history will be some of the topics up for discussion. Short program followed by a movie—feel free to bring snacks and a drink!

Program Title: Backyard Bird Banding Date: Sunday, May 25 th Time: 8:30 AM Location: Near Maintenance Division Description: Join state park volunteers and experienced bird banders, David and Fay Hauber, as they attempt to band common songbirds right here in Sizerville State Park! We will have a short introduction on birds followed by instructions on what to do and expect during the demonstration. Closed toe shoes and long pants are recommended due to the program taking place in high grass/shrub areas. Feel free to bring a water bottle, bug spray, and binoculars. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Program Title: Tracks & Traces Date: Sunday, May 25 th Time: 1:00 PM Location: Environmental Learning Center Description: Have you ever wondered what a bobcat pawprint looks like? Or what about a bear? Or an otter? Come out to this program and find out, along with learning about other mammal species of Pennsylvania! Short talk followed by an activity to make your own track out of a mold to take home with you!

Program Title: Sizerville’s Splish Splash Bash Date: Monday, May 26 th Time: 11:00 AM Location: Pool Deck Description: Join the lifeguard team and the park educator for a fun, water-themed program to celebrate the opening of the pool!  We will be talking about watersheds and their importance, along with seeing some aquatic critters up close. Come join us as we open up the summer 2025 pool season! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Additional Information: To register for a program, go to the DCNR Calendar of Events website, search Sizerville State Park, find the program listed, and click on the Register button right under the program date, time, and location. For more information or questions about registering, please contact the Environmental Learning Center at (814) 486- 5609.
