Free June Programs at Sinnemahoning State Park! 

 Sunday June 1 st , 2025,   9:00 AM, 10:30 A.M., and 12:30 P.M. 
Pontoon Tours of the Stevenson Reservoir-
Join park staff for a relaxing and informative tour around the lake, as we cruise the shoreline of the George B. Stevenson Reservoir in search of wildlife. Group size is limited. To reserve a seat, please pre- register. Registration is not required but is strongly recommended.

Saturday June 7th, 2025 1:00 P.M.- 3:00 P.M. 
Orienteering Basics 
Learn how to navigate across the landscape using only a compass and a map. This two-hour program will teach participants how to read and use a compass, shoot an azimuth, understand declination and plot and follow a course on a map. Pre- registration is required for this program.

Turtles on the Trail 
Early June is nesting season for Sinnemahoning State Park's turtles and that means many turtles will be out of the water and searching for a place to make a nest. Join a park naturalist to look for and document which species of turtles may be crossing the Lowlands trail during this busy time of year. Meets at: Wildlife Center

 - Take a relaxing paddle out on the lake in search of wildlife and recreation! Borrow the park’s kayaks and equipment or bring your own. Open to participants aged 10 to adult. Group size is limited. Pre-registration is required. Meets at: Lake Day Use Area

Sinnemahoning History Series: The C.C.C. 
 Started as a work relief project as part of Roosevelt’s New Deal, the Civilian Conservation Corps left behind a legacy that is still present today. Find out what it was like to live and work in a C.C.C. camp, learn about the projects they completed and how the work of the C.C.C. shaped our state parks and forests. Meets at: Wildlife Center Classroom

Explore the exciting otter family in this PBS film by Charlie Hamilton James. Take an in depth look at several species of otters, including river otters, that are found right here at Sinnemahoning State Park.

Skies of Sinnemahoning June Night Sky Tour 
 Sinnemahoning State Park enjoys some exceptionally dark skies that offer great night sky viewing opportunities. Join park staff and local astronomy enthusiasts to learn about the celestial objects and constellations visible overhead. It is recommended that you bring a chair or blanket to sit on. No flashlights unless they have a red-light filter, please.

Breeding Bird Walk
 Join a park naturalist in documenting breeding birds in the park. Along the way we will be collecting data for the Pennsylvania Bird Atlas and participants will learn how they can contribute data to this five year participatory science project.

Introduction to Archery
Have you ever wanted to give archery a try? This program will cover the basics of archery, including bow types, shooting form, and safety. Open to participants ages 10 and older, this program requires pre-registration. Meets at: Wildlife Center Classroom
