On February 14th, the Emporium Rotary Club welcomed Tom Lavella (right), guest speaker of Rotarian, Robert Martin (left). Tom spoke to the club about his volunteer trip to an orphanage in Africa through Karibu Volunteering. Tom has volunteered his time teaching the children in the orphanage as well as helping them to build what is needed, in once case helping to add a second story to the orphanage building. Currently, Tom is putting forth more efforts to raise money to help the orphanage further and has created a GoFundMe and sponsors other fundraising events locally.
