Charles Mark Grippo

Charles Mark Grippo, resident of Palmer Township, formerly of Newton, NJ, passed away on February 16, at home after a hard-fought battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was 83 years old. Charlie was the beloved husband and best friend of Mary Ann (Dooley) Grippo for 54 years.

Born in Newark, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Charles and Helen (Kosakowski) Grippo. He served his country in the U.S. Army, stationed in the Panama Canal Zone. He was a graduate of Seton Hall University. Charlie retired from BASF Corporation in 2003 after a long career in computer systems. Charlie was a long-time member and former treasurer of the Walpack Historical Society. Since relocating to the Lehigh Valley, Charlie resurrected his boyhood hobby of model railroading and was active in the Nazareth Area Society of Model Engineers. Charlie's favorite pleasures were family and food. He delighted in his children's and grandchildren's visits and enjoyed researching his family tree. Charlie relished every meal and there was never such a thing as too much dessert. He liked classic movies, especially at Christmas, and the annual fall trip to Cape May was a highlight each year. Charlie's terrific sense of humor stayed with him until the end, always giving his caregivers something to chuckle about.

Survivors: In addition to his wife, Mary Ann, Charles is survived by daughter, Karen of Alexandria, Virginia, son, Mark of Brooklyn, NY, two grandchildren, Juliet and Wesley, and a brother, Frank (Anne Louise). Friends and family may call on Saturday, February 25, from noon until 1 p.m. at the Highlands of Glenmoor Clubhouse, 1 Highland Court, Easton, PA 18045, with a memorial service beginning at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Charlie may be made to the Allentown Rescue Mission or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

The Joseph F. Reichel Funeral Home Inc., of Nazareth is honored to care for Mr. Grippo and his family at this time. Online condolences may be offered at www.jfreichelfuneralhome.com under his obituary.
