Cameron County Community Chest 2021 Fund Drive – Nov. Update
We are seven weeks into the 2021 fund drive. We have had a great start. Through Nov. 20th, we have collected $5,580 toward our $19,000 goal. Thanks to all who have contributed. This drive will run through September 30, 2021.
Watch for our monthly updates. Each month we will feature a write up on one of the organizations that the Cameron County Community Chest contributes to. This month’s feature will be the Package Team.
A group of Rich Valley women started the Package Team over 20 years ago. The team currently sends out around 85 packages (a little piece of Cameron County for Christmas) each year to our local service men, women and reservists. Boxes are filled with snacks, coffee, toiletries, paper, pens, newspapers, playing cards, and letters from the kids. Some items are donated by local businesses and churches. Other items are purchased. Postage is the largest cost. No donation/memorial is too small.
