Rotary News - Nittany Mini Mart


 

Emporium Rotary Club
 This week, Rotarian Susan Bucher introduced her guest speaker, Nickie Masulla, representative from the Nittany Mini Mart. Nickie brought design drawings of the new, upcoming Nittany Mini Mart in Emporium and indicated that we should see a start of business sometime within a 4-month timeframe.
They will be providing 24 hours service with a full menu and seating area, curbside pick up, beer cave, loyalty rewards card, weekly senior discounts, auto diesel fuel, ethanol free gas and more. A family oriented business and wanting a community designed mart, they plan to incorporate Cameron County history into their seating area with images and items from the county. Currently Nittany Mini Mart operates 28 other marts and hopes to employ around 35 people at this new 29th location. 
Applications can be found on the Indeed website. Rotary certainly welcomes Nittany Mini Mart and wishes nothing but the best for them as they provide service for our county and the surrounding communities!

Lakeview Store Cabin & Rental Update

 

Lakeview Store LLC 
 FYI Lakeview Store, Cabins and RV Camping will be open at full capacity till December 14, 2025. 
We will take a small break and then open back up in late March 2026.

Event Planning 2026 
 Cameron County Chamber of Commerce facilitating a meeting at Tubby’s Tavern this month to put 2026 events on the community calendar. A quick tally of events found on www.cameroncountychamber.org show more than 40 events planned for October. The question is how to maximize and build on those events? On Sunday October 19 at 2pm, each organization/business can add their event to the calendar. There will also be a discussion on continuing outdoor music events in the summer in addition to effectively marketing the events. If you cannot attend the meeting, but want to share your planned events, email the chamber with the information at cameronchamber@gmail.com.

Halloween 2025

 

Halloween 2025 
 Cameron County will bring out the werewolves, princesses and ghostly ghouls in October. 
The fun begins October 18, when The Willows Bar and Restaurant host a Halloween Jeep/Costume Cruise In. This is the third year for the event which will begin at 11am and conclude at The Willows Bar and Restaurant at 3pm with live music. 
Emporium Borough Mayor Justin Zimmer announced this week Trick or Treat will take place Saturday October 31 from 6pm-8pm by porch light invitation. Many other Halloween activities are planned for that day beginning with the return of the Smoker’s Halloween fun in the Emporium Town Square starting at 4pm. Business Trick or Treat will take place 4-6pm Details for Trunk or Treat have not yet been finalized however it is planned for October 25.

Improvements to Barclay Recreation Park

 

Grove Township 
Grove Township wishes to inform the public of ongoing efforts to enhance Barclay Recreation Park, located on Wykoff Run Road in Sinnamahoning, PA.
 Recent improvements include additional playground equipment such as new swings, new rubber mulch, as well as upgraded restroom facilities featuring enhanced amenities and improved cleanliness.
 Due to minimal usage and deterioration caused by weather over the years, the softball dugouts were removed during the summer. The fenced ballpark has been repurposed and now serves as a dog park, which is open to the community.
 To ensure a safe and pleasant environment, we kindly request adherence to the following guidelines:
 • Ensure your dog’s vaccinations are up to date.
 • Always have a leash readily available. 
• Do not bring food or treats into the park
. • Consider using the playground area for small children rather than the dog park. 
• Clean up after your dog at all times. 
• Make sure your dog is wearing a proper collar and identification. 
• Follow all posted regulations.
 • Supervise your dog and keep them within sight.
 • Maintain control of your dog at all times. 
• Refrain from bringing aggressive dogs, sick dogs, or females in heat.
 • Show consideration to other dog owners. 
The park is available for day use, and facilities can be rented for large family gatherings or events.

Grove Township 2025 Fall Clean Up Date

 

Grove Township 
The Fall Clean up Date is October 11, 2025, 9-4 
This is an opportunity for you to dispose of large items around the camp. 
We will accept old furniture, mattresses, box springs, and similar items.
 A $25.00 donation is requested for any refrigerators dropped off. 
Additionally, old cook stoves, lawn mowers, and other scrap metal will be accepted. 
Please note that we will not accept hazardous waste, televisions, computers, tires, or other car parts.

Nominate Your Favorite Trail

 

If you have a favorite trail that provides unique opportunities, encourages and celebrates diverse user groups, or enhances your community, please nominate it for Pennsylvania’s 2026 Trail of the Year.
 Each year, the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) and its Pennsylvania Trails Advisory Committee (PTAC) designate a Trail of the Year to help build enthusiasm and support for trails and raise public awareness about the economic, environmental and health benefits trails bring. 
The winning trail will be recognized through a commemorative poster for statewide distribution, a trailhead marker along the trail, and a grant for educational programs to promote safety and environmental protection on the trail.

Rotary News -Service Above Self Award

Emporium Rotary Club 
 Each year, our club presents the Service Above Self Award to a deserving, non-Rotarian member of our community whose actions exemplify the Rotary motto "Service Above Self". 
 The 2025 recipient of this award is John Sidelinger!

John retired from the Bureau of Forestry in 2011, after 35 years of service. Most of our community knows John for his gorgeous works of art, and his natural talent for painting. John's work has been featured in publications such as The Grit, The Pennsylvania Sportsman's Magazine, and The Game News.

If you attend our picnic, you are probably familiar with his work, as John has donated painting year after year to our fundraising event - just one of his many acts of service! You may also recognize his work from the Cameron County Chamber of Commerce & Artisan Center. Here, John donates the proceeds from the sale of his paintings from March-December to local organizations - Cameron County Ambulance, Emporium Fire Dept, Cameron County Community Food Pantry, and the Cameron County SPCA. Last week, John presented his most recent donation to the SPCA in the amount of $1,496!

John's contributions to our community extend beyond his artwork. He has been a member of the Board of Directors for Keysone Health Consortium for 14 years. He has also been on the board of the St Marks Community Daycare for almost 10 years. In the past, he taught Catechism at St Marks for 25 years, did prison ministry for about 5-6 years, delivered Meals on Wheels for a few years, and was a consultant for the Borough Shade Tree Commission.

We are deeply grateful to benefit from John's time and talent and are very pleased to honor him with this award! President Marsha Hendrickson is shown here presenting John with his SAS award.

A message to all in Emporium and surrounding areas.

Beginning Monday, 10/6/25, the Emporium CORE Psychiatric and Psychological Services Office will have a new entrance on East 4th street! 🥳 
 Our new office address will be 27 East 4th Street- where the River Radio Station used to be and across the street from ADAS. Our window decals will be arriving soon and a new sign to come 
 Please use this entrance when looking to schedule or attend any appointments moving forward
