Kathryn Smith Pearson (70) of St. Cloud, Fl entered the heavenly Kingdom of her Lord after a brief illness.
Kathy was born on April 11, 1956 in Cleveland, OH to Dolores and David Smith. She spent time in Athens and Marietta, OH before relocating with her family to Charleston, WV. A member of her school’s marching band, she was a 1974 graduate of George Washinton High School and received a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology from the West Virginia University School of Medicine in 1978.
She loved the medical profession and would spend the next 45 years of her life devoted to the field as a bench tech and a supervisor, including 30 years in the Advent Health system – first at Celebration Health and later at Advent Health-Kissimmee.
Kathy married the love of her life Dan Pearson on June 11, 1993 in Charleston, WV. The couple settled in Tallahassee before moving to Central Florida in 1987. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her loving son Ryan, daughter-in-law Dayna (Halstead) and a grandson Logan, all of Lakeland, Fla. In addition, she is survived by brothers Don Smith (Denver, Co.) and David Smith (Georgetown, TX), and sister Carol Marshall (Summit, WV); as well as several nieces and nephews.
A voracious reader of fiction novels and history, Kathy loved travel, fine dining, and the beach; as well as attending and watching sporting events. A kind soul, she loved the many dogs and cats that were her companions throughout life.
She was a long-time member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Always looking to help others, she was a regular blood donor and always encouraged organ donor registration.
No public funeral service will be held, but the family will announce plans for a Celebration of Life at a later date. Keeping with her loving and giving spirit, the family requests that in lieu of flowers or cards that any donations being considered be made to a Second Harvest Food Bank of Orlando or the Osceola County Animal Shelter.
Dan Pearson is a former Cameron County resident.
