With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Joan M. Scanlon, of Bath, New York, who peacefully passed away on July 22, 2026.

Born to Robert F. Scanlon and Betty C. Quick, Joan lived a life defined by love, hard work, and an unwavering willingness to help others. She owned and operated a landscaping business before retiring, but those who knew Joan understood there wasn't much she couldn't do. A true "jack of all trades," she had a remarkable gift for fixing just about anything. Whether she was taking apart an engine, repairing something others had given up on, or lending a helping hand, Joan tackled every challenge with determination, skill, and confidence.

Her love of hard work began as a young girl, spending countless hours alongside her grandfather on the family farm. She treasured those days, proudly driving the tractor and helping with chores, creating memories that stayed with her throughout her life and helped shape the strong, independent woman she became.

Joan was a proud graduate of Savona High School, where she enjoyed participating in sports and formed many lifelong friendships. While she accomplished so much throughout her life, nothing brought her greater happiness than her family. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and every moment spent with them was a gift she treasured. Whether sharing stories, laughter, or simply being together, Joan's love for them knew no bounds.

Those who knew Joan will remember her for her generous heart, her kind spirit, and the way she made everyone feel welcomed and loved. She had a special way of putting others before herself and found joy in helping anyone who needed it. Her warmth, compassion, and selfless nature touched countless lives, and her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her.

Joan is lovingly survived by her daughter, Sequoia Scanlon of Bath; her cherished grandchildren, Katrina, Havanna, Adriana, and Conner; her precious great-granddaughter, MaLeah; her brother, Jerry (Elaine) Scanlon of Jacksonville, Florida; her sisters, Barbara (Thomas) Darmstadt of Caton, New York, and Kimberly Fenton of Raleigh, North Carolina; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Betty Scanlon, and by her beloved brothers, Kenneth Scanlon and Randy Scanlon.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Joan's life on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Junior's Log Cabin, 8818 NY-415, Campbell, New York, where stories, laughter, and cherished memories will be shared in honor of a life so beautifully lived.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Joan's memory by planting a tree or making a donation to your local animal shelter. It is a fitting tribute to a woman who found beauty in nature, joy in helping others, and unconditional love for all living things.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that Joan's love, strength, and gentle spirit will continue to live on through the family she adored and the countless lives she touched. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
