Sgt. Albert R. “Albie” Haynes, II

Sgt. Albert R. “Albie” Haynes, II, 24, of Port Royal, South Carolina, formerly of Gardeau, PA, passed away unexpectedly from health-related illness in Florida, on Saturday morning (May 30, 2026).

He was born August 2, 2001 in Coudersport, PA, a son of Jerry and Lori Bennett Haynes of Gardeau.

Albie married Kaitlyn Haynes at Sizerville State Park in Emporium. Together they were eagerly awaiting the birth of their daughter, who is expected in August.

Albie graduated from Cameron County High School with the Class of 2020. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, fulfilling a lifelong desire to serve his country. Through dedication, discipline, and strong leadership, he attained the rank of Sergeant. Albie was selected to serve as a Drill Instructor at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, where he was entrusted with the responsibility of training and mentoring young men and women entering the Marine Corps. He took great pride in developing recruits into United States Marines and was deeply committed to the Corps’ values of honor, courage, and commitment. His professionalism, leadership, and devotion to duty earned him the respect and admiration of fellow Marines, recruits, and commanders throughout his military career.

Albie will be remembered for his outgoing personality, infectious smile, and unwavering devotion to his family and friends. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing, and making memories with those he loved most. Above all, he cherished his wife and looked forward with great excitement to becoming a father.

In addition to his wife and parents, Albie is survived by his maternal grandmother, Shirley Bennett of Florida; one sister, Kayla Mead (Ryan) of Port Allegany; three brothers, Steven Griffith of Buffalo, NY, David Griffith (Kerrianna) of Hillsboro, Texas, Brandon Haynes (Rebecca) of St. Marys; his sister-in-law, Ashley Burgett of Emporium; as well as several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, fellow Marines, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Albert Haynes; paternal grandmother, Patricia Haynes; mother-in-law, Charmaine Burgett; and maternal grandfather, Clifford Bennett.

Visitation will be held at the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, 1284 Sizerville Road, Emporium, PA 15834 on (Thursday, June 18, 2026), from 10:00 AM until 11:45 AM, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM with his uncle, Rev. Roger Bennett, officiating.

Burial with full military honors, conducted by fellow Marines, will be in Portage Township Cemetery, Gardeau, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Kaitlyn Haynes, 3833 Gardeau Road, Austin, PA 16720, to establish a fund for their daughter.
