A FREE workshop will be held here at the library on Tuesday, July 16, 2026 at 2 PM for children and adults who'd like to build up their creativity and observational skills!
Slow down and take time to observe the natural world.
Then record your discoveries through writing and drawing.
Come curious and ready to notice details. 🌳📓✏️
The program is for individuals and families. Youth must be accompanied by a registered parent or guardian. No artistic or scientific experience is required! Youth will receive a journal. Adults should bring a notebook or journal. Bring preferred writing or sketching tools and field guides for plants, birds, insects, or general nature. 🍂🐦
Topics That'll Be Covered:
1. How to observe nature more closely and notice details often overlooked
2. Simple techniques for recording observations through drawing, writing, or combination of both
3. Ways to blend creativity with scientific thinking while exploring the outdoors
4. How to use prompts to spark curiosity and guide journaling practice
5. Approaches for turning everyday outdoor moments into meaningful journal entries
6. How journaling can support reflection, a sense of calm, and a stronger connection to place
