Cameron County Office of Emergency Services
🚨 IMPORTANT SAFETY REMINDER 🚨
Residents, Visitors, and Guests of Cameron County:
As work continues on Route 120 and is expected to remain ongoing for an extended period, the Cameron County Office of Emergency Services would like to remind everyone of the importance of safe driving practices when utilizing alternate routes through the Borough of Emporium.
While detouring around construction areas, please remember that many of the secondary roads being used are residential streets. These neighborhoods are home to families, children playing outdoors, pedestrians, and local parks and playgrounds. Increased traffic on these roadways can create additional challenges for residents who are not accustomed to seeing high volumes of vehicles traveling through their neighborhoods.
We ask that all motorists obey posted speed limits and, when appropriate, travel even slower based on conditions. A few extra moments added to your travel time is a small price to pay for the safety of our community members.
Cameron County is fortunate to be a close-knit, quiet community, and we would like to preserve the safety and quality of life that our residents enjoy. Please drive with caution, remain alert, and show courtesy and respect to those who live along these alternate routes.
Together, we can help ensure that everyone arrives at their destination safely.
As always, Cameron County, stay safe and stay aware.
Respectfully,
Cameron County Office of Emergency Services Staff
