Father's Day Weekend Programs @ Sinnemahoning State Park

 

Hello Sinnemahoning Friends! With the official start of summer comes summer park programming. Check out the list of programs offered over the next two weekends!

Father's Day Weekend programs at the park include Skull Identification, Skull Craft, Bear Movie, and Pontoon Tours. Facemasks are required for unvaccinated participants, but are optional for those who are vaccinated.

Saturday, June 19 10:00am to 11:00am - Skulls: It's Inside That Counts Learn how to identify animal skulls by looking at the teeth, eyes, and other features. Interactive indoor presentation with lots of hands-on practice with real animal skulls. For all ages. No pre-registration necessary. Meet in Wildlife Center classroom.

11:00am to 11:30am - Skull Activity and Craft

Get more hands-on practice with skull ID while creating movable skull models and works of art from skull stencils. Art materials provided. Good for all ages. No pre-registration necessary. Meet at Wildlife Center classroom.

8:30pm to 9:30pm - Campground Movie: Season of the Bear

This well-written video follows bears throughout the year, as they eat, sleep, play, and interact with their environment. Includes segment on understanding bear behavior and signs of aggression. 1-hour nature documentary by Kate Marshall Graphics. Everyone is welcome to attend - even folks not staying in the campground. No pre-registration necessary. Meet at Campground Amphitheater.

Sunday, June 20 9:00am-10:00am, 10:30am-11:30am, 12:00pm-1:00pm

Pontoon Tour of the Stevenson Dam Join park staff for a fun and informative 1-hour tour, as we cruise the shoreline of the George B. Stevenson Reservoir in search of wildlife. Group size limited. PRE-REGISTRATION is recommended. There is no fee for regular Sunday interpretive pontoon boat tours, but DONATIONS ARE REQUESTED.

Ladies, registration is still open for Women in the Wilds classes
 Choose your own adventure – pick just one class or sign up for a full weekend of outdoor recreation and environmental education. This program is being offered for FREE for this year only. Register for classes online at https://events.dcnr.pa.gov/sinnemahoning_state_park. Facemasks are required for unvaccinated participants, but are optional for those who are vaccinated.
