Sylvia J. Barber, 64, of Emporium, PA, passed away at Penn Highlands DuBois, DuBois, PA, on Sunday morning, March 1, 2026.
She was born July 25, 1961, in Ridgway, PA, a daughter of the late Millard and Grace E. Frederick Williams. She was married to the late Frederick Barber.
Sylvia was a graduate of Cameron County High School, Class of 1979, and furthered her education at Triangle Tech, where she studied nursing. She dedicated many years of compassionate service as a nurse aide at Guy and Mary Felt Manor and also worked as a private duty nurse. Caring for others was not just her profession, but a calling that reflected her gentle and giving heart.
She found joy in life’s simple pleasures like tending to her flowers, visitinga lighthouses, and vacationing at the beach where she spent countless peaceful hours searching for seashells. Above all, Sylvia treasured the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, who brought immense happiness to her life.
Sylvia is survived by her son, William Foley (Leigh) of Guys Mills, PA; two grandchildren, Jordan and Nevaeh; three sisters, Diane M. Williams of Emporium, Brenda K. Williams of Emporium, and Carol A. Lentz (Gene) of Keating Summit.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, David M. Williams.
There will be no visitation. Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Portage Township Cemetery, Gardeau, PA.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
