Sizerville State Park Environmental Education Programs Labor Day Weekend 2025 

 Program Title: Stream Study 
Date: Saturday, August 30 th 
Time: 3:00 PM
 Location: Near Pavilion 3 
Description: Join the park educator to look for macroinvertebrates, like stoneflies and crayfish, in the stream, along with learning their importance. Short talk followed by exploring the stream - expect to get wet so bring along water shoes, swimsuits, and a towel! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 
Program Title: Film in the Forest: Osprey 
Date: Saturday, August 30 th 
Time: 8:00 PM 
Location: Campground Amphitheater
 Description: Did you know that Ospreys live on every continent except Antarctica? Join the park educator for a program to learn all about this fish hawk. Short talk followed by a movie—feel free to bring snacks and a blanket! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 
Program Title: Family Fun Bike Ride – Guest Presenter
 Date: Sunday, August 31 st 
Time: 11:00 AM 
Location: Environmental Learning Center 
Description: Join volunteer, Rodger Eckert, and the park educator for a short bike ride through Sizerville State Park that will also include East Cowley Run Road in Elk State Forest. Along the way, we’ll discuss the history of park and its recreational opportunities. The total bike route will be 6 miles; however, participants can leave the ride at any time. Participants must bring your own bike, and all riders must wear a helmet. Snacks, water bottles, and sneakers are highly encouraged. Registration is recommended. Program Title: Dutch Oven Cooking – Guest Presenters 
Date: Sunday, August 31 st 
Time: 1:00 PM 
Location: Pavilion 5 
Description: Step back in time with State Park volunteers, John and Jan Halter, as they focus this program on Dutch oven cooking styles from the CCC spike camp era. 
Samples of what we make will be provided at the end of the program! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 
Program Title: Sizerville’s Splish Splash Bash 
Date: Monday, September 1 st 
Time: 11:00 AM
 Location: Pool Deck 
Description: Join the park educator and the lifeguard team for a fun, water-themed program since this is the closing day for the pool. Stop by to test your fishing skills and learn something about our local aquatic critters. Come join us as we close the 2025 pool season! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

For more information or questions about registering, please contact the Environmental Learning Center at (814) 486- 5609. In case of thunder, lightning, or extreme weather conditions programs may be moved or cancelled. If you need an accommodation to participate in park activities due to a disability, please contact the park office at (814) 486-5605. With a minimum of one week notice, interpreters for people who are deaf or hard of hearing are available for educational programs.
