Edward C. Lakes

 

Edward C. Lakes, 73, of Emporium, Pennsylvania, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025, at 4:35 p.m. at Penn Highlands Dubois Hospital.

Ed was born on April 14, 1951, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Raymond Louis Lakes Sr. and Nellie Ann Stone. A hardworking man, Edward spent his life dedicated to the land, and to the skills that defined him.

He taught those around him how to fish, hunt, and track with respect for all wildlife, and how to live self-sufficiently. Whether it was showing how to spear a trout in the creek behind the house, rebuilding a starter, pouring concrete, laying shingles, gardening, or driving a stick shift, Edward believed in passing down knowledge through experience and example.

He is survived by his daughters, Vanessa and Nicole, and by his grandchildren, including Joe, Sean, Mikayla, and Daryn, who will carry forward his love of the outdoors and his practical wisdom. Edward was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Raymond Louis Lakes Jr. and sister Shirley Lakes.

Ed will be remembered for his work ethic, integrity, and determination, his ability to fix or build anything with his hands, and his respect for nature. His lessons will live on in the lives of those he taught and loved.
