Lois Dianne Braden, 77, passed away peacefully at Penn State Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, PA on August 10th, 2025, with loved ones by her side.
Lois was born in 1947 in Indiana, PA to Florence Lois (Wadding) Eckenroad and William Franklin Eckenroad.
Growing up, Lois enjoyed spending time in nature by herself and with her friends. To some, Lois was known as Sis. Lois was also known as friend, Mom (or additional Mom) and Grammie to many.
Lois attended Cameron County High School in Emporium, PA and graduated in 1965. Lois had several different jobs in her lifetime before retirement. Some of her favorites were radio announcer / news director for WLEM / WQKY in Emporium, news reporter for The Olean Times Herald, and Coudersport hospital physician recruiter.
Lois married Al Braden in 1978, and they lived in Emporium, PA till they retired. Following their retirement they split their time in Harrisburg, PA with their daughter and Fort Myers, FL.
Lois was an avid volunteer all her life. She volunteered for American Cancer Society, Red Cross Blood Mobile, and Meals on Wheels to name a few. Lois was also a part of several Quilting groups that sewed items for Hospices and Children’s hospitals.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a brother, and a sister.
Lois is survived by her daughter, Jean Miller (Harrisburg, PA), former husband, Fred Miller (Clearfield, PA) and several nieces & nephews.
There will be no visitation or funeral services.
There will be a memorial service on September 20th at 11am at Daybreak Church, 321 Gettysburg Pike, Mechanicsburg, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Swatara Township Police K-9. Make out check to “Swatara Township Police Department” with K-9 in the memo and attach a note in memory of Lois Braden, 400 Summers Street and mail to Swatara Township Police Department, Attn: Community Services, 599 Eisenhower Blvd, Harrisburg, PA 17111.
Memorial service for Alfred & Lois Braden
There will be a memorial service for Alfred & Lois Braden on September 20th at 11 am, followed by a light lunch, at Daybreak Church - Gettysburg Pike.
This will be a short and casual celebration of life.
