Gordon Leary Vogt

 

Gordon Leary Vogt, Sr., 91, of Emporium, PA passed away at Guy & Mary Felt Manor, Emporium, PA early Friday morning (August 23, 2024). He was born May 28, 1933 in Emporium, PA a son of the late Gordon Anthony and Genevieve Leary Vogt.

Gordon graduated from Emporium High School in 1951 and began his collegiate career at the US Naval Academy serving on the USS Wisconsin. He graduated from Clarion University in 1957.

Gordon's career spanned from Buffalo, NY to Shelton, CT to Tempe AZ in the configuration data management field. He retired from Motorola in 1998.

His love of family, God and Country was core to his life. He enjoyed the outdoors, hiking and camping with his children and the occasional pranks on his nephews and nieces who he also adored.

In retirement, he enjoyed traveling and exploring many of the National Parks. Also a family history buff, Gordon created the "Vogt Chronicle" which documented history from 1862 to 1933.

He is survived by a daughter, Tracey V. Albro (Trevor, Sr.), Purcellville, VA; son, Gordon Leary Vogt, Jr., Emporium; daughter, Genny Tilton (Chris), Coudersport; son, Michael Sheldon Vogt (Shelly), Roulette; daughter, Barbara Lynn Aldridge (Dustin), Crofton, MD; six grandchildren: Brianne, Heather, Trevor, Jr., Renee, Megan and Nathan, four great grandchildren: Tripp, Olivia, Landon and Miles; sister-in-law, Laura Vogt, Irvine, CA; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents Gordon was preceded in death by four brothers, Regis, Jim, John and Earl Vogt and a sister, Mary Strycula.

There will be No Visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at St. Mark Catholic Church, 235 E. 4th Street on Friday (September 6, 2024) at 11:00 AM with Rev. Paul S. Siebert, Pastor, as Celebrant.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the charity of the donors choice.
