The Cameron County Quarterback Club and the entire Red Raider football team would like to say a HUGE thank you to Emporium Hardwoods for their donation in helping us obtain Guardian Caps for our football players.
Guardian caps are a soft-shell helmet cover engineered for impact reduction. It brings a padded, soft-shell layer to the outside of the hard-shell helmet. Guardian caps are used to help lower the rate of head contact injuries by 20% if both players are wearing them. Our coaches have spoken to other coaches in our area who have been using these during football practices and since using these, they have not had any practice-related concussions. The NFL has allowed Guardian Caps during practices since 2022 and starting this year, the NFL will allow Guardian Caps to be worn during games.
The safety of our players is always our number one priority, and we feel Guardian Caps are the right way to go and are very thankful that Emporium Hardwoods was able to donate for this.
