Cameron County Farmers Market Introduces Tim & Jen Olivett

Cameron County Farmers Market
Most of you will know the next vendors I am about to introduce to you as their name was synonymous with our local grocery store for decades. I am of course talking about the wonderful Tim & Jen Olivett!

Started by Tim’s father in 1939, and known as the Joe Olivett Market for the many years that he ran it, our local supermarket has been serving the community for over 80 years! When Joe retired Tim and his brother Rick took over the store and ran it for another 38 years before selling it in 2016.

Tim started going to the produce auctions in 2005 and I still hear many people recalling how continually impressed they were with the quality of the fruits and vegetables, grown by Mennonite farmers, that he would procure for the store.
.
Tim always enjoyed his trips to the auctions so, even after he retired, he and Jen would still go and stock up for their own personal use.

Tim and Jen joined us for the last farmers market and were a huge hit with their truck load of cantaloupes, peaches and melons! They have since made several more trips to the auctions and have sold a variety of produce at the train tracks in town. They will be joining us again this weekend with a selection of fruits and vegetables that differ from what the local growers will be bringing.

Come on down this Saturday 10th September, 9am to 1pm, at the Emporium Town Square to see what they have picked up at the auctions for you this week!
Welcome to the market, Tim & Jen!
