Update on Library Hours and Happenings

Update on Library Hours and Happenings

The Barabara Moscato Brown Memorial Library is excited to announce extended fall hours and current contests and events with the community.

Beginning Tuesday, September 8, the Library will extend weekday service hours
. The new hours of operation will be Monday-Friday 11a.m.-6p.m., Saturdays 10-2, and closed to the public Wednesdays and Sundays. Although the building is not open to the public on Wednesdays.
“We do still offer our Library-2-Go-Go pickup service in the foyer on that day,” said Librarian
Yelena Kisler.

The Library is currently running a mini-fundraiser, a Bear-Tastic Basket Raffle is happening now through September 19. The Basket, valued at $150, includes a heavy-duty canvas basket, giant stuffed teddy bear, and several brand-new bear-themed books (including the newest Paddington release). To enter, stop by the Library and purchase a raffle ticket at $5 each or 5 for $20. Winner will be drawn on September 21.

The Library is also running several contest throughout this month. The first is our Women’s Right to Vote Write-in Contest, going on now through November 1. To enter, simply complete the entry form (available at the library, Cameron County Chamber, and in copies of the Cameron County Echo) answering our question by no later than November 1. A winner will be chosen at random from those who submitted a completed entry form. The basket, also valued at nearly $150, is geared towards teen/adult women, but anyone interested is welcome to enter.

The second contest is a digital puzzle contest running on the Library’s Facebook Page. Each Monday in September, the library will post a new digital puzzle, each harder than the last. The first person to complete the puzzle and post their finished work on the Facebook Page, wins their choice of a brand new book from our selection. Books in all genres and age ranges are available to choose from.

Additionally, the Library will be holding another Mini Used Book Sale September 24-26 during regular library hours. The sale will be under the awning in front of the building (weather permitting). In the case of bad weather, the Sale will be held in the multipurpose room with limited entry. All books will be sold on a donation basis. Look for several special collections to be featured on the Library’s Facebook Page.

Also coming soon will be a second round of basket raffle fundraising with 2 large baskets available. One basket is American Girl-themed and the other is Magna Tiles-themed. Both are on display at the library for preview. More details on the raffle to come soon!

Despite not being able to resume in-person programming, the Library continues to regularly post Story Hour videos with take-home activities twice each week, and offer as many take-home, online activities and resources as possible.

Anyone with questions or comments is welcome to contact Library Staff at 814-486-8011, email brocampl@zitomedia.net, or message them on Facebook.
