Sinnemahone Gravel Road Race and All Fired Up Kickin Ash BBQ Winners Announced

Sinnemahone Gravel Road Race and All Fired Up Kickin Ash BBQ Winners Announced
Cameron County hosted two successful events Saturday September 26. Competitors in the barbecue competition came from across the state hoping to capture the Mystery Meat cash prize. Organizers say the number of gravel road race bicyclists exceeded last year by 20 percent.

The team of Eat My Pork took home the $500 prize donated by Embassy Powdered Metals. Eat My Pork traveled from Westmoreland County to smoke yellow fin tuna which was provided by Valley Meats. People attending the outdoor event selected Mort’s Meat Mafia from Coudersport as their favorite. The team also placed first in Turkey, Pulled Pork, Sides and Desserts. Pennwood Smoke Chasers from Snyder County took home Best Ribs and Brisket. Beer N Bones from Ridgway took home best wings.

The barbecue competition is held in conjunction with the Sinnemahone Gravel Road Race. The race course includes West Creek Recreational Trail and roads in Elk State Forest and Sinnemahoning State Park. Organizers say the event required a Covid-19 plan in order to follow DCNR and PA Department of Health requirements.

First place finisher in the 55 mile race was 29 year old Chris Pulomena from Bellmore New York who finished in 3:06:37.

The first place female was 50 year old Christie Keglovits from Coudersport who finished in 4:16:18. The 26 mile race was won by Emporium native Saul Solveson. The 41 year old finished in 2:09:39. The top female finisher was 48 year old Sarah Batson from Coudersport. The 14 mile course took riders from Emporium to Truman and back on the West Creek Recreational Trail.
