Andy’s Story - Andy Lathrop Benefit

Andy’s Story

Most people coming together for this cornhole tournament may not know Andy, or may have only heard a little about what he has been going through. So we wanted to share his story—not just the medical details, but the incredible journey that has brought him to where he is today.

Andy’s battle with cancer began in May of 2024, when what seemed like severe back pain led him to the emergency room. What his family thought might be something simple turned into devastating news: Andy had testicular cancer that had already spread to other parts of his body, including his liver, kidneys, and lungs. He began treatment and went through three rounds of chemotherapy, fighting through everything that came with it.

Then, in November of 2024, their family received another heartbreaking blow. Andy began experiencing twitching in his arm, and doctors discovered that the cancer had spread to his brain. Since then, Andy has endured two brain surgeries (craniotomies) and three rounds of radiation. He has faced procedures, hospital stays, rehabilitation, medications, pain, seizures, and countless days that no family should ever have to experience. And somehow, he kept fighting.

In July of 2026, the family learned that the tumors in his brain had grown again. What followed has been another incredibly difficult chapter—more treatment, more hospital stays, more complications, and more uncertainty. Today, Andy is still fighting.

He is currently undergoing intensive treatment while doctors continue working to determine the best next steps. His body has been through an unimaginable amount. The cancer, the treatments, the brain tumors, the surgeries, and the complications have taken a tremendous physical toll on him. But Andy is so much more than his diagnosis.

He is a son. A brother. A grandson. A friend. Someone who is loved deeply by his family and by the people who know him. And behind Andy is a family that has been fighting right alongside him every single day.

His mom has spent countless hours by his side—advocating for him, sitting beside his hospital bed, helping him through the hardest moments, and trying to hold everything together while also being a mother who just wants her son to be okay. His siblings and loved ones have had to watch someone they love go through something no family should have to endure. There have been moments of hope, moments of fear, moments where they weren’t sure what the next day would bring—and still, they keep showing up. That’s why this fundraiser means so much.

This isn’t simply a cornhole tournament.

It’s an opportunity for a community to come together for a young man who has been fighting for his life for more than two years.

Every entry, donation, basket, sponsorship, and act of kindness helps Andy and his family while they navigate the financial and emotional weight that comes with a battle this long.
For those of you who don’t know Andy personally, we hope you’ll leave this event knowing a little bit about the person you’re helping.
For those who do know him, you already know why we’re fighting so hard alongside him.

Andy has fought through more than most people will ever have to face. And his fight isn’t over. Today, we aren’t asking you to fix everything.

We’re simply asking you to stand with Andy.

To play a game. To laugh. To donate if you can. To share his story.
To remind his family that they aren’t alone.
And most importantly, to help give Andy and his family a little bit of hope during one of the hardest chapters of their lives.
Thank you for standing with Andy. ❤️
