Rotary Club of Emporium
Rotarian Diana Boden, this week's guest speaker, enlightened our members with the history and beginnings of the First Presbyterian Church here in Cameron County. She gave mention to who was instrumental in the existence and location(s) of the church, the year of each building of use, and the names of several pastors who officiated services. The church began on Pine Street next to John Mason's farm in Sterling Run back in the early 1800s, relocating to the original courthouse (currently the parking lot), again in 1869 relocated to Fifth Street (Daley's residence) and in 1903 finally settling on the current location of Fourth Street. An addition to the original structure was then added on in 1956 to accommodate the Sylvania boom. Rotarian Boden's program was very informative!
