Rotary News
On 12/17, our club had two guest speakers, one for each meeting.
Rotarian, Bunny McLean, brought guest speaker, Joyce Beicher, from the Emporium Borough to speak about the new Cameron County Dog Park during our noon meeting. Joyce discussed how the funding was raised for the park and that they did not use any tax money to fund this project. In order to make this dream a reality, they had to remove trees, and excavation was completed by George Brown, install a fence and security cameras, and put in benches that were donated. The dog park will officially open this spring and will be open from dawn until dusk. Dog parks can be a great place for dogs to interact and increase their socialization skills as well as getting the exercise they need. There are rules in place to keep the animals and owners safe and happy and keep our dog park a clean, fun asset for our community!
Our evening meeting hosted an impromptu guest speaker,
Constance Boyce (not pictured). Constance was in the library and heard that our club was meeting and asked to speak about her future plans for a therapy farm in Cameron County. We welcomed her and listened to her ideas to hopefully one day open a farm with horses and other animals to be able to help children heal from trauma such as trafficking and abuse. Her vision is still in its beginning stages, but we are excited to see how this progresses in the future!
