Sylvan Heritage Council
What began with a vision of what an empty lot could become, the Pocket Park project at Fourth & Cherry Streets is now complete. On behalf of the Sylvan Heritage Council, I would like to sincerely thank all of the following, once again -
The Emporium Borough - for their manpower, machinery, and use of their lot to store our messy materials;
The Emporium Rotary Club - for the design and funding of the iron arch;
The Emporium Foundation - for their generous contribution of half the startup cost of the project;
The Lundberg Family - for their gracious donation of the parcel of land;
Bill Hopwood and Crew - for their incredible investment of talent, time, and energy spent engineering our vision and bringing it to life -
as well as several unsung heroes - Bryan Moate, for his kindness and supreme excavating skills; the staff at ADAS, for allowing us the use of their water as well as the back of their parking lot for a staging area; Alan Ramsey, for installing the memorial tree plaques and not complaining about our excessive "tweaking"; Mike Moyer, for unselfishly installing the large hallmark on the front of the pillar; my husband Brian Slusarick, for his unwavering workhorse abilities, never once complaining about the immense amount of "behind the scenes" work he was asked to do (and making it all look easy); everyone who sponsored a tree, bench, or paver in honor or memory of a loved one; and all of my fellow Sylvan Heritage Council members - for running to pick things up, paying invoices, documenting with photographs, bringing food and drinks, WATERING!, supporting this seemingly crazy idea, and for just being the best friends.
We hope the community will make use of this lovely space and we truly hope it will add to your pride in our beautiful town.
