Hometown Mentors Helps Local Authors Publish Books

HMI is set to publish more local author books in 2021.

Following the first book published by HMI, "A DUCK NAMED PUDDLES", by Susie Singer, Cathy Swarmer is working with more authors and this year will see additional books by Cameron County authors, on the sales shelf. This free service is growing in popularity and is of great benefit to local Cameron Countians who have written books but until now, had no way to get them under cover. HMI provides the knowledge of layout and submission to Barnes and Noble Press for printing. HMI also will receive 50 cents for the charity from each book sold.

A new book titled, “The First 17 Years Are the Hardest”, written as an Emporium High School English assignment in April,1949, is the next Cameron County book to come off the press. The Author is very special to the HMI founder. Ken Ostrum wrote the essay and this unique autobiography in Ken's own words, with pictures from Cameron County, is being printed by Barnes and Noble Press. If you want to be listed for pre-order, click here to be added to the list. https://forms.gle/QvMtnCqCxMkaeXz78

Another Children's story book called, “The Mysterious Monster on Gingerbread Lane”, is written and illustrated by Author, Barbara Ryan, and will be published by HMI and available by February 14. Pre-order list can be found at this link: https://forms.gle/XMqLjMbuFYgQTxWh6

In addition to books on demand for print, the HMI Website is now publishing pictures of the most beautiful county in the nation (Cameron) that are taken by local Hometown Photographers.

It seems as though HMI has hit on a way to help and encourage our hometown mentors, while putting to use valuable talents in teaching website design and how to self publish.

Inquiries about how you can get your pictures or your manuscript published (Cameron County related) email Cathy Swarmer at: cathys15834@hometownmentors.org
