Causer, Commissioners Launch ‘Save Our Community Hospital’ Petition Drive

Please consider the below. It is so important to keep healthcare in our rural areas!

Causer, Commissioners Launch ‘Save Our Community Hospital’ Petition Drive

BRADFORD – Rep. Martin Causer (R-Turtlepoint) and McKean County Commissioners Tom Kreiner, Carol Duffy and Cliff Lane are inviting area residents to sign on to a petition supporting Bradford Regional Medical Center (BRMC) and the services it provides to the community.

The petition was launched in response to last week’s announcement by Upper Allegheny Health System (UAHS) that it planned to move all acute care and surgical services out of BRMC and to Olean General Hospital instead. BRMC would continue to operate an emergency room, some outpatient services and maintain 10 inpatient beds.

“This proposal would be devastating to our community,” Causer said. “It would make accessing critical health care services more difficult than it already is for our residents, and it would lead to a significant loss of jobs. We really can’t afford to lose such a substantial part of our hospital.”

“We are all deeply concerned about our hospital and the people who rely on it to protect their health and well-being,” said Kreiner, chairman of the board of commissioners. “Many people have asked us how they can make their voices heard in support of the hospital. This petition drive is one way people can get involved.”

The “Save Our Community Hospital” petition gives area residents a way to voice their concerns about the proposal and show their support for BRMC. The petition reads as follows:

“We, the undersigned, call on the board of directors of the Upper Allegheny Health System (UAHS) to cancel its plans to transfer all acute care and surgical services away from Bradford Regional Medical Center.

“This proposal would have a devastating impact on our community, further reducing our access to critical health care services, increasing existing transportation problems for many residents seeking care, and cutting valuable jobs.

“We call on UAHS and its parent, Kaleida Health, to live up to their commitments to invest in our community and enhance the health care services available to us here in Bradford.”

People interested in signing the petition may do so by visiting www.RepCauser.com. It is also available at Causer’s Bradford office, located at 78 Main St. Hard copies of the petition are also available for download at www.RepCauser.com.
