James L. “Meatball” Deetscreek, 70, of Sinnamahoning, PA, passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday morning (May 14, 2026) following a lengthy battle with cancer.
He was born May 10, 1956, in Nanty Glo, Cambria County, PA, a son of Alice (Little) Deetscreek of Nanty Glo and the late Earnest Deetscreek.
On October 22, 1983, in the Sinnamahoning United Methodist Church, Jim married Tina Peters, who survives.
He was a graduate of Central Cambria High School. He moved to Cameron County and spent many years working as a logger before his retirement. He truly enjoyed going to work each day and spending his time in the woods doing what he loved. He was a member of the Emporium Country Club and was an avid golfer who treasured the many rounds he played with close friends. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most importantly, Jim loved spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren.
In addition to his mother, Alice, and his loving wife, Tina, He is survived by three daughters: Jamie Fulmer and her husband Todd of Middletown; Amie Chilcote and her husband Matt of Driftwood; and Mary Uhl and her husband Scott of Emporium. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Earnest Deetscreek and his wife Deb of Johnstown; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Earnest Deetscreek; a grandson, Ayden Chilcote; and one brother, John Deetscreek.
There will be no visitation, and services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
