🚑 Major Funding Secured for Cameron County Ambulance Service! 🚑
We are thrilled to announce that Senator John Fetterman has secured $250,000.00 in Congressionally Directed Spending funding through the eleven FY26 Appropriations bills signed into law to support the Cameron County Ambulance Service in the purchase of a new ambulance.
This critical investment represents more than just funding — it represents a commitment to public safety, rural healthcare access, and the well-being of every resident and visitor in Cameron County.
A new, fully equipped ambulance is a significant financial undertaking. The cost of a modern ambulance chassis and custom emergency medical box typically ranges from $275,000 to $325,000. When you add in essential life-saving equipment — cardiac monitor/defibrillator, stretcher system, oxygen delivery equipment, suction units, radios, emergency lighting, safety systems, and advanced life support supplies — the total investment can reach $350,000 to $400,000 or more. Properly stocking the unit with medications, trauma supplies, and day-to-day operational equipment adds even more to the overall cost.
This federal funding provides a tremendous foundation toward that goal, helping us move significantly closer to replacing and upgrading a vital emergency response vehicle that our community depends on 24/7.
We extend our sincere gratitude to Senator Fetterman and his entire office for their advocacy, support, and recognition of the unique needs of rural emergency medical services. Their efforts will have a direct and lasting impact on the safety and health of our community.
While this funding is a major milestone, we will continue our fundraising efforts to secure the remaining funds needed to fully purchase, equip, and stock the ambulance. Community support will be essential in bringing this project across the finish line.
