EMPORIUM: Local business leaders and community members are celebrating the arrival of Penn Pallet as the newest manufacturer in Cameron County, marking a boost to the region’s industrial and employment landscape.

The announcement — posted by the Cameron County Chamber of Commerce — welcomed the company to Emporium at 13746 Route 120, bringing attention to a long-established Pennsylvania enterprise with deep roots in wood product manufacturing and material handling solutions.

Founded in 1976 in St. Marys, Pennsylvania, Penn Pallet has grown from a local pallet builder into a major regional manufacturer and supplier of wooden pallets, crates, boxes, and associated products with distribution across the continental United States and into Canada. The business remains family-owned and operated by the Cunningham family, with a commitment to quality and service that helped it earn the Governor’s ImPAct Award for Entrepreneur Impact in North Central Pennsylvania.

Penn Pallet specializes in producing custom-designed pallets and shipping platforms, using advanced pallet design systems to optimize strength and cost-efficiency for a wide range of industries, from manufacturing to logistics. The company also provides reclaimed and reconditioned pallets, offering recycling and repair services that help reduce waste and restore pallets to like-new condition.

In addition to manufacturing, Penn Pallet offers specialized services, including heat treating and borate treating, which are important for exporting wood packaging materials in compliance with international standards that prevent the spread of pests and invasive species.

The company’s environmental focus extends to its recycling practices, where wood waste from damaged pallets is repurposed for fuel, landscaping mulch, and pressed wood products — an example of sustainable industrial resource management.

Penn Pallet’s expansion to Emporium — a borough known for its scenic location in the Sinnemahoning Creek valley and as the seat of Cameron County — reflects ongoing economic development along Route 120, the state highway that links Emporium to neighboring communities and serves as a vital corridor for business and transportation.

Local officials and the Chamber of Commerce are optimistic that Penn Pallet’s presence will create jobs, strengthen the borough’s manufacturing base, and contribute to growth in the region’s industrial sector.
