Jerome C. Mitchell

Jerome C. Mitchell, 80, passed away on April 26, 2021, at Embassy of Loyalsock, following a courageous battle with metastatic melanoma. Jerome was born in Minerva, NY, on December 19, 1940, to the late Ralph and Margaret Mitchell. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and received an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration from Canisius College, Buffalo, NY. On April 16, 1966, he married Edla R. Benasutti in Ridgway, PA, and they were happily married for 43 years until her death in May 2008.

Jerome was self-employed for over 30 years as the owner/operator of JCM Trucking Company, hauling hardwood products for various lumber mills, including for his beloved brother, Joseph Mitchell, founder of Brookville Wood Products (BWP Hardwoods) and BWP Bats.

Jerome loved growing up in the Adirondack Mountains and spoke fondly of his childhood memories, including breaking horses, learning to ski, and working alongside his father and brothers in the lumber industry. Jerome enjoyed skiing, fishing, golfing and cheering on his beloved Buffalo Bills, attending all five Super Bowls. He often bragged about the numerous miles logged during his lifetime, as he greatly enjoyed his long leisurely walks throughout the neighborhoods.

In addition to his parents and wife, Jerome was preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph and James Mitchell. He is survived by his daughter, Anne (Steve) Logue, Loyalsock Township; his son, Jerome, Sanford FL; and three grandchildren (Emma, Samantha and Jerome Joseph), whom he loved very much. He is also survived by his loving friend and companion, Wanda Rigotti, Zephyrhills, FL.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Embassy of Loyalsock for their compassionate care and love given to Jerome throughout his illness. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Embassy of Loyalsock or Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Montoursville, PA. Services are private at the convenience of the family.
