June Classes Planned for Artisan Center
Cameron County Chamber of Commerce & Artisan Center hosting a variety of classes for adults and children. Re purposing furniture and pottery classes limited to 10 students each.
June 7 will feature Sally Azzato teaching painting techniques on furniture you own. Students are encouraged to bring small pieces to transform. Students will receive an 8 ounce jar of paint, brush and sanding sponge. The class will run 10:30-12:30 and is $30.00.
Registration for this class closes May 27.
Artist Jacqueline Coble from Dubois will teach slab pottery construction. That form of construction relies on a uniformly piece of clay that can be cut or molded into shapes.
Children will press items into 4x4 tiles that will then be glazed and fired. The class will be held in Emporium on June 15 at 10:30am and the cost is $10.00.
The adult class is set for June 29 at 10am. A hanging pocket vase and tile will be created by students. Doileys, flowers, leaves or stencils can be used to create a hanging vase pocket, which will be glazed and fired. The tile will be cured using a smoking method. That class is $30.00.
